itzy's own was great for western promotion. i dont get twice release time at all though......
same tho and seems like the timing really take a hit this time . already 2 am kst but Alcohol Free still not entering Melon chart . promotion will definitely help a lot later tho
first we have ITZY with afternoon release
now we have TWICE with mid-week release
both are such a rare timing to release a song and definitely not helping the song to get enough attention or momentum (if that even make sense)
luckily MAFIA slowly rising on chart thanks to promotion but anyway i cant help but thinking what is the main reason of that timing decision .
Twice released the MV not the Album today. The actual release is on Friday at 1PM Korean time.

Yeah I don't get it either. The only other groups I've seen do it that way already have pretty established western fanbases like BTS and Monsta X or acts specifically aiming for that market like SuperM and Wonho. (I know Astro released their MV at noon, but that was just a gift for the fans to drop it early.)
I think Starship realized it didn't really matter for MX cause they went back to 6PM KST with this last comeback. We will have to wait and see if JYP keeps that route for itzy.
I have no idea what the hell JYP is doing with Twice though. 
Time release doesn't even matter because the songs can slowly gain tractions on chart if they're well-received.
I don't think whenever they release would change their chart positions much in the long run.

TWICE got shifted to being more global with the music sound change, and with NiziU dominating Japan now, JYPE doesnt seem to be as focused on asia only market with twice anymore

Japan timing is possible as though one of the big groups in Japan put out a new single this week there are no big hitters in the Album markets that have been out this week which are seperate. (Oricon/BBJ week started today/yesterday depending on your TZ). The MV is trending #5 in Japan right now. It may rise to #1 but right now Yonezu Kenshi has a recent video out and he is the JPOP youtube King.
