I collect Pokemon and have for a long time. Basically that stupid Paul YouTuber dude who loves to jump on trends opened a pack of Pokemon and found a rare card, sounds normal for me a collector as you usually will find a rare card at some point during picking but. He told people they were the new get rich quick scheme and so people started scalping them to the point franchise stores like Walmart and Target refuse to tell them in stores anymore as scalpers started physically assaulting parents and kids who would "get in there way" of making money by trying to buy some as they normally would before the youtuber video.

I haven't really seen it anymore tbh (mostly bc I'm in hs and probably they matured a lot) but I remember in elementary, trading pokemon cards used to be a HUGE thing. Especially among boys.
People would pay money for them too and they were even banned once by teachers because they thought they were so annoying
