If you would do this in Europe 90% of all (IDK how old you have to be there) 14 years old would be like "ewwww" or "The boys in my class are so ugly, I don't want to date them" and the boys "and the girls are all so weird and ew no thanks"
LMAO.... Well, I guess that's why they don't have Proms in Europe...
The only thing we do (in my country) is the "Schulabschluss" aka. you and your parents come to the school, you have to dress like if it was your wedding but you mostly only wear black dresses and after you get your diploma a crappy school-band plays a song and than everyone goes to a restaurant to eat food and thats it ...

Nah ... everyone had to pay 50 bucks per person just so we got re-heated instand food and fries with a crappy DJ who was suposed to play different music but only played childish music and after they said "we open up the dance floor" in the same second the owner of the restaurant interupped the whole thing by pulling down a screen to show a soccer-game and in this moment from over 300 people the majority left. And even tho food was allready fucking expensive for no reason, we had to pay 3 bucks per trink extra cause the restaurant said they only include 1 drink into the price of the menue ...
