BTS used to be somewhat trailblazers regarding their music. Now they are overly reliant on these Western producers/ songwriters, with the American CEO even having a songwriting credit on "Butter," to dictate their commercial viability-- that's when the art and soul in music dies. I find it extremely disappointing for a group like BTS, who came in blazing with their own quality in music, kowtow to what Western dictates what music is commercially viable in the States, only to sound like a dated One Direction cut.
It's eerie that BTS is slowly turning to One Direction. Why are they pushing BTS to sound and dress like One Direction?

Tbh last year they released 2 Korean albums and just the 1 English song, so I don't think they've changed all that much. Nor do I see the 1D comparison either lool tf
Unfortunately it just seems if they want any Western acclaim (i.e. the Grammy the members are aiming for), the catchy upbeat songs seem to capture a wider audience compared to the more personal and 'deeper' Korean songs that fans prefer. I'm sure they'll still release the music they're known for (and let's face it, prefer probably) further down the line this year.

To outsiders and objective observers and listeners, there's nothing new about it.
-
But they still have their Korean albums, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
-
To which I say they are.
because god forbid when a group tries relesing pop english songs when they have been releasing different genres of albums for 7-8 years

In other words, they are selling the soul in their music for a trophy that means nowt.
