Awards base on numbers or awards base on quality

  • why is that?

Cause no one cares about the criteria, fandoms be like: whatever makes my faves win is the one I want basically.

If they don’t win with quality: they are being biased, the judges are rigged. My faves have 918393939393 achievements.

If they do win with quality: finally a real award.

If they don’t win with numbers: this is rigged no way my faves didn’t win

If they do win: of course they won they sold 939293938383.

  • As you critical darlings yet in plenty list you still don’t see those names at all.

You would if this was their heyday.

The most acclaimed albums by Boredoms and Sigur Ros absolutely dominated in their day.

But yeah, more currently, the only one I can think of is Oranssi Pazuzu.

We could just look at BTS' Map of the Soul: 7, though:

    #12 / Consequence of Sound

    #16 / Rolling Stone

    #33 / Billboard

    #44 / NME

    or Blackpink's The Album:

    #15 / Dazed

    #23 / Idolator

    #25 / Billboard

    #41 / Uproxx

    #75 / Riff Magazine

I mean, I haven't missed your point, and it is a good one, but as more people consume k-pop in the west, the more it will be evaluated critically. And we're already seeing that with increasing reviews and whatnot, and tbh, I think the eoy placements are indicative of the critical reception. If P4K are giving Itzy a 5/10, they're not gonna put them on the EOY list, and it's clear what they think of them.

    And I can't say I disagree tbh.
