In China, this is a staple practice; Use wealth to start the first 100 or 1000 bought albums or votes in a contest to whet the start of the fan's voting; To give a head start to help the fans vote more I guess. I believe there is a science to it but I never understood it. Recently though it was so egregious that there is and was a clear disapproval for the star called Wang Yibo or at least his fanbase was at least not big enough to carry him into a contest that he won. The other stars that made it into the top ten didn't even bother showing up because it was clear that yibo basically paid his way in instead of cashing in on his popularity.

Considering the age of the albums its unsurprising that an old guard of his fanbase could keep it growing over the years. Frankly I'm surprised that twice could challenge such a long-running sale of an album so quickly.
