These are the best selling Groups overall in Korea

I wish SM had pushed EXO more in Japan, somehow they only got 3 physical releases (and their first release was just the Japanese version of Love Me Right) there despite being one of the most popular korean groups in Japan back in 2013, but SM just completely wasted all their momentum.

You can see why SM was not focusing on JPN in 2013-16. They were solidifying EXO's presence in China, but once THAAD happened and China put a ban on KPOP, SM should have wasted no time in pushing EXO in Japan. That was a grave mistake on SM's part.

good point about China, but yes especially after Coming Over came out and still sold extremely well (for the time). The fact that they waited over a year for a barely promoted album and then only one digital single since then . . . just disgraceful on SM's part.

2016 should have atleast had One JP mini album and One single release.

2017 maybe one JP album

2018 was the year they should have gone all out, it would have paid off imo

It's not specified in the original tweet, but I believe these figures are Gaon + Oricon sales, but with Oricon adjusted to only include Japanese releases (or else it'd be double counting)
