Yup! That's why they say there's a 2.5 generation.
So if you see it as 2nd gen would be the pioneers: TVXQ, SuJu, SNSD, Wonder Girls, KARA, Brown Eyed Girls, Big Bang. Basically anyone debuting before early 2009 and before.
Then you have 2.5 like f(x), APINK, Miss A, Girls Day, SISTAR, etc. Those who debuted late 2009ish and later.
I would say 2009/10 was really the turning point for 2nd gen because it's when you had existing label mates promote like:
SNSD and f(x)
Wonder Girls and Miss A
