Have you listened to "Who" by Jimin?

I gave it a listen out of curiosity. It's certainly catchy enough and has its appeal, but my problem is the unnecessary, heavy-handed vocal processing that Jimin's voice is buried under. Even if it was an artistic choice, it's a disservice. Jimin's natural voice could have carried the song. It's a confusing choice that, personally, deducts significant points from what is otherwise a pretty decent tune. However, I don't think I'll be revisiting it.
I don't usually post male artists, but perhaps your ears need a cleansing after being subjected to all of that unpleasant vocal 'magic', like mine do:

In another (non-kpop music) forum, I complained about the processing someone linked to this since it has less processing:

Whatever it is, I really, really don't like it. When searching for the above, I found my post from when I first heard that song and lmao, I did not react well to it.
BUT, clearly, we're in the minority, since it's a very popular song. It's more popular than, for example, Serendipity, a Jimin song that I really like, where he doesn't do... whatever he's doing to his vocals on here.
People tend to dismiss it as, you know, crazy akgaes or whatever, but, again, I had this conversation on a non-k-pop forum, and the person defending the song, his vocals, and the processing, wasn't even a BTS fan.

Yes, I think it was my number 1 song on Spotify wrapped in 2024.
"Who" and "Killin' it Girl" are probably my favorite English solo songs by a member of a Kpop group. I love catchy songs

Yes, and I even like the song itself. The problem, as always, is the vocal processing. Initially, I thought it had been written and produced entirely by Westerners, but I suspected Pdogg's involvement because of that. Then I checked the credits and confirmed my suspicions.

We're of the same mind. "Serendipity" walks all over this. I was perhaps a bit more charitable in my mini review than I ought to be, because, like you, I find it quite grating and distracting. There's definitely a decent little tune buried beneath the layer of metallic twang, but the problem is, I'm unconvinced that it's worth looking, or more appropriately, listening for.
Defending it is certainly a choice, a confusing one, in my opinion. Obviously, one is entitled to like the song to their heart’s content, but I refuse to be told that it sounds good or that it was a wise, let alone necessary, decision. What makes it worse is that I know it would have sounded 100% better without it, and I'm not even a fan.
My number one rule of thumb: avoid arguments with K-pop fans. About literally anything and everything. My operational bandwidth simply doesn't support it.

Was he/her a consumer of K-pop in general? Or just someone who likes hills...
