[let's discuss] international fans : spectator or perpetrator ?

  • International fans often pity kpop idols for facing mistreatment

And are asking for change in the entertainement

But are International fans simple spectator or perpetrator of the system they are denoncing ?

International fans often act like simple spectator of idols mistreatment and the industry

Unable to do anything besides hoping for change in the industry

But aren't international fans just hypocrites ?

People internationally have been asking to boycott companies that work with israel

They have exposed companies involved in yghur forced work and ask people to boycott these companies

And these battle were translated to the kpop world through kpop fans

With kpop fans debuting a witch hunt asking idols to stop drinking starbuck, cuz they decided to boycott starbuck who work with israel and consider that their favs should do the same

Few years ago when the whole yghur situation break out, international fans asked kpop group like bts or blackpink to stop working with brand like adidas that was involved in the yghur forced work

So it seems that International kpop fans have no problem to boycott companies in hope for change in the future

So isn't hypocrite from kpop fans

To promote the boycott of companies who have problematic behaviour and management

But on the other hand, isn't very hypocrite for them to finance companies that they denounce for their working conditions ?

If International kpop fans have such ease to boycott international companies or boycott even kpop groups who doesn't align with their moral principle

Why is it impossible for them to boycott companies that don't have the same moral principle than them ?

Also isn't hypocrite to denounce a system

When kpop fans are the one who actually let this system last

    Cuz let's think about it

Companies are only looking for profit

Profit comes from kpop fans buying their product

Kpop fans are asking for the industry to change ? Ok

But why companies would want to change their industry when they see fans that continuously pour their money in the pocket of these companies everytime ?

Why would the companies care about the words of these kpop fans when the actions of these kpop fans are the complete contrary of the ideas they advocate for ?

If some of the international companies have decided to cut any link they had with yghur or israel it was because they were seeing how their finance were influence by the boycott ?

So why international fans are unable to do the same for kpop companies especially when now most of kpop companies revenue comes from international fans ?

  • Why should the blame fall on international fans when domestic fans are the og parasocialists and don't give a flying fuck about the fact that their faves are racists that unapologetically try to cosplay as the stereotype of black people?

Why should the blame fall on international fans or any fan, actually, when the companies are the ones who deliberately and consistently engage and indulge in shady behaviors? They set no boundaries, and they allow stupid fans to cross it with absolutely zero remorse for how that affects the idols.

Yet somehow international fans are the problem? Bfr.

What makes this thread crazy to me is the bold. We had a personality that was pretty big in the time in Sam Okyere who called out blackface. All he said was try to educate them how it was wrong and it ended up with him being cancelled. So, like what is OP expecting international fans to do with certain issues when locals don't care much about what international fans think or if somebody brings up a valid issue there.

Also, we can't act like companies don't know when they fully see what's happening on social media. They know hot apologize but will still ignore international fans when they bring up issues. So, why she the blame be on fans when companies know about issues but don't change because we're not a major market to them. I think hierarchy for kpop companies will be Korea, Japan, China, and possibly SEA market. I feel western market is just seen as a market with potential but won't fully change ways because we don't affect most companies tbh

    THIS

Sometimes it feels like people try to paint international fans as everything wrong with the kpop space or like we are supposed to fix all that is wrong with kpop but no.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying international fans are completely innocent but idk why anyone is blaming international fans for not holding the companies accountable when, imo, we are the ones who are most vocal about problems concerning kpop.

The most that domestic fans seem to care about is an idol's latest relationship status ffs

  • unless we are Korean in South Korea...aren't we all international fans?

like there's maybe one or two Koreans on AKP and even then I'm not sure if they reside in SK

international fans just like all fans can be both spectators and perpetrators...it is a huge group to be lumping everyone in the same category

people should be judged according their own choices and not the actions of the group they associate with...
