Ever thought about boycotting Kpop due to the abusive nature of the industry?

  • Has anyone ever thought about boycotting or even stop giving money to kpop companies due to it's abusive nature especially towards minors? There are a lot of discussions around this and people especially on twt come across very preachy for people stanning and actively giving money to these companies imo. Is it because they only do it when the topic is not about their faves?

I feel strongly about it too, and I am aware of some of the things that bts talked about stories from their debut days.

But, It is definitely a conflicting topic.

Recently there were 2 big news that made me think about this-

Just an FYI on this- basing this on some tweets I saw from her fans that this was not a legit doctor but a shady place

  • It wouldn't work.

My question is less about whether we should boycott for the kpop companies to improve or not. They will figure out a way to just hide it better imo. But more about if people felt so strongly about it that they could not continue to support it. As a personal choice.

  • No.

All I do is watch music videos, variety content & sometimes join discussions. I don't buy merch, albums or concert tickets and I don't do the bot streaming tactics. It's unfortunate what goes on in this industry but it's fucked up shit happening everywhere, not just in Kpop. I don't feel like it's my responsibility to stop enjoying what I enjoy just because some ppl wanna do bad things.

Being aware of what is going on and discussing it between each other to find solutions is good enough. I just don't believe boycotting is the solution. Korean parents are allowing their underage children to enter the industry knowing its nature and the risks that come with it... They should be the ones boycotting, not me . :finger-heart:

Well I have thought about it but I never did because it would never work.

Kpop fans love to point fingers at others for doing nothing but never themselves.

  • I think most entertainment industries would be hard to follow if you think about that part. I think there's of course a line you can draw, but there's a lot of abuse going around in the entertainment industry. I think it's up to the individual to set their threshold in what they're willing to tolerate.

  • The things I eat the things I wear are a byproduct of something abusive in some industry as well

At this rate I have to be a monk if I want to boycott everything

icy becomes the head monk for day6 to counteract the rise of shamanism in kpop

  • Ever thought of boycotting American music due to all the drugs issues.alcohol issues and mental issues so many artists go through?

And the many shady people profiting from a successful artist?

I can understand boycotting specific companies for specific reasons, but the whole pop industry of a country becomes silly quickly when you realize that huge issues are not limited to one country.
