We have to thank Ms. Aeri Kimura for breathing life to NewJeans' existence. Before her, SM's next girl group was going to be some cute, basic concept. But then Giselle joined, bringing that undeniable hip-hop swagger and rap talent with her. Her presence alone shifted the entire blueprint for Aespa, pushing them into that edgy, powerful, AI-concept direction. Min Hee-jin, who lives for soft Pinterest core aesthetics, oversaw this change LSM mandated and it stressed the fuck out of her. So she left to create her own group until eventually landing on HYBE's alley. Giselle literally paved the way for NewJeans.
