BTS don't seem to have the kind of control their fans say they do.

  • Most companies don't even ask the members what they think of the song. It's funny how kpop fans pretend that bts is only doing it for the money, when they care more about the art than their faves do

Kpop is a highly manufactured industry. This is a well known fact. No kpop fan is stanning a kpop group thinking that their faves are the next Kendrick Lamar. Kpop fans are actually very self aware about what they are in the genre for. Do you think someone who stans Red Velvet is sitting here and pretending that the members do not have a team of songwriters behind them?

With that being said, BTS (and the likes of Big Bang too) really marketed the authenticity schtick to make themselves stand out from the rest of the industry. It's a big reason for their success.

  • I never said that bts likes to work for free. My point is that they write and produce a lot of their songs and actually have some input on concepts unlike some groups. Also I didn’t say anything about the final say, you’re putting words in my mouth to seem smart 🥱

This is true for their rappers but not so much for their singers.

  • Nobody besides the white racist korean fetishizers have a problem with english kpop songs. The problem is with the Maroon 5 rejects. Kpop industry and especially Hybe have such a myopic view of English music they think releasing Ed Sheeran rejects will get people to like them.

  • BTS Chapter 3 is imminent and here goes again but it’s fine - I expect no less and it is a good sign that even non-fans are STILL interested in my faves

I like RM's solo music. Even j-hope with JITB was promising but his latest singles are a disappointment. Couldn't care less about the group post-LY Tear and for their pop members.

  • And every year since Kpop fans have proved that, it's like everyone skips from Dynamite to Butter and completely ignores BE and what that album meant for BTS creatively.

Well I can't speak for other people but for me BE is frankly not that good of an album especially when you compare with their top tier works in HYYH and later cuts like Singularity even their pop efforts like Pied Piper. Even if it meant something to BTS it need not mean anything to anyone else.

You and I will have to disagree. While I don't think BE is their best work, it has some career highlights like Disease and Telepathy. I don't think speculating about what BTS can and can't do is a fruitful conversation for me.

I am an album listener. While kpop is largely singles oriented BTS has been an album artist historically so it makes sense to look at their albums as a cohesive project rather than focus on a few career highlights.
