The blackhawk was doing routine training. From the ATC conversation, sounds like the blackhawk pilot either mistaken other lights for the CRJ or lost sight of it as he was supposed to fly behind it.

Having flown into DCA numerous times, it's not that hard considering that at low altitude, the navigation lights on a plane easily blends in with all the other lights in the area. What's likely is that the helo pilot might have mistaken the landing CRJ's lights (the airplane the ATC had notified the helo about) with that of another CRJ that had just taken off.

air traffic control was definitely DEI, the woman pilot was probably also an inclusivity hire considering she only had around 500hrs of flying

Re: intuition/common sense.

For complex problems, a simple solution may not be possible. Common sense problems may be the quickest to think about, but often they ignore so many hidden issues and complexities.

Even if trump tries to wipe out DEI, I really hope he instates a meritocracy in its place and not let it revert to an old boys club as it tended to be in the past.

Army has revealed the names of the flight instructor and crew member but has withheld the name of the female pilot that was doing her night flight assessment.

It was the perfect disaster waiting to happen. If you live in the area, you are well aware of how many helicopters are moving around while flights are coming and going. Especially black/milt. copts flying around while you could PHYSICALLY SEE commercial flights still in the air around DCA. Very “TF? type” stuff.

Sad it took people losing their lives for them to finally correct that.

Funny how the Biden administration's supposed "refusal to hire white males" didn't lead to the largest air disaster in over twenty years while they were in office. It's only under Trump's watch that this starts to happen. I wonder if him FIRING everyone who possesses a shred of competence in running this country has anything to do with everything suddenly going haywire. Guess it's just a coincidence, huh? It's highly ironic how Trumpers want to blame DEI for everything when Trump himself is the one who hires people based entirely on loyalty to him and not because they actually have even the faintest clue how to do their jobs.

Air traffic controllers were specifically excluded from any recent government downsizing and it takes years to train and qualify controllers to work major airports. The problem of controller shortages due to exclusionary race-based hiring has been building up since the Obama Administration:
