I completely agree!
-
I think u is a furry tryna defend your ppl ngl
And BITCH ILL DO MY HOMEWORK IF I WANT TO
Ah, I get it now. Funny, I almost worked myself into a shoot lol

Yeah they're weird as hell.
But honestly I think most people are into stuff that might be weird or to geeky four most people so it shouldn't really matter what others think. I mean kpop is still in the same category where of you you say kpop you'll get the usual "but how can you understand them" and all that.
I personally used to buy and build gundam kits, built up a decent collection and one of the first of my friends to see it said wtf why do collect toy robots, aren't you a bit old for that. Now he collects funko pops and ironically got a bit annoyed when I used the same it's a kid toy line...

I used to have a roommate that was a furry. I always assumed it was a sexual thing, but he told me for him it wasn't. Apparently for most(but not all) furries, it's not a sexual thing at all.. He told me that was the most common and annoying misconception that people have about the furry community. My ex-roommate compared it to drag and said for most furries its about wanting to have a different identity where you can express yourself differently and more confidently.
Also, extra info no one asked for, but it was interesting to me. Most of the fur suits that furries have are custom made and cost well over a thousand dollars most of the time. Since it has to fit your specific identity. Idk it was just really interesting to me when I learned about that. -
Furries are actually more complicated than what people give them credit for. It can be just anthropomorphized animal cartoon appreciators to those soulbonder/otherkin weirdos who are basically cultists and some furries may fight against each other.
I don't consider bronies as furries. They are their own thing IMO. Furries tend to be associated with other stuff as well as their communities tend to be very inclusive and sometimes they may be overlap with similar fandoms (like Sonic) and be associated with less savory people like the ones who are into zoophilia which lot of furries probably wouldn't be OK with.
I consider myself an otaku, so I kinda understand this fandom a bit. I saw some in anime and fanzine cons as there are some overlap. Sure they may be cringey or even creepy, but overall not that different from anime fans which have been considered weirdos by "normies" and other fandoms a lot in the past.
In this aspect both fandoms suffered similar discrimination, so I feel some commonalities with them...but I wanna be very far from them as possible

I don’t even know much about it. To each their own I guess.

I always wanted to try my hands at Gunpla back in the day but it always seemed too complicated LOL.

It's quite fun and a lot of people are intimated by the complexity. But if you choose easier kits with less parts, and of course a design of a gundam you like, then it's very manageable. They can take maybe a few hours at most.
Then you can try harder kits which are much more rewarding to build but the problem then becomes cost. Some high grade kits (master grade and perfect grade) can start at £100 and if you really want to get the best out of it is recommended to buy special paints for extra customisation which can also be expensive.
That's the main reason I kind gave up, it got too expensive especially for a broke uni student. Well that and I ran out of space to put them lol.
Overall though if you like collecting things AND building them from scratch is a fun little hobby to try out

I had more casual approach to the idea because I used to really love the Gundam series. I had zero dedication tho LOL.
