If they get away with “contract is over because I said so”, the kpop industry will transform completely. The system of training artists is over - why invest time and money into training kids with potential for several years if the idols can walk away at any time with no consequences once their star power grows and they don’t need the company anymore.

The outcome would be the western model - companies sign up artists who are already very talented, as their management and record label only. The biggest impact might be to groups that require more investment for coordinated training.

But when I take a step back from kpop, if NJ get away with this, the country would have much bigger problems. Any contract in any industry could be considered meaningless ….
