The difference in reaction between BSH and Mingyu is very hypocritical

    BSH was called a pig and creepy for hanging out with 2 women much younger than him, the allusion was that he was most likely being a kind of 'sponsor' to them. Might be morally reprehensible but these 2 women are of age and making their own choice to be with him.


    But Mingyu goes to clubs and handpicks girls to come to his table. He's basically picking women like if they were on the menu, and because the women are working for the club they are obligated to do as they are told, no matter what. There's a reason sex trafficking is so common in those kinds of establishments. His company didn't confirm that was actually him, but people were quick to defend those kinds of actions, like there was absolutely nothing morally wrong with it.

    First of all it is club, and if girls gave their consent what’s wrong with that? Secondly he is not 30 years older than those girls in clubs!

    Bang also picked those girls before reaching out before flying them out. I guess the creepiness for some people is the age gap though. When I was younger, it also creeped me out, but now I don't really care about age gaps. I know many with age gaps going in well over ten years at this point.

    It depends, if they are the "club's girls" or just random women. Whether it was Mingyu or not, men who go to those places get whatever they want if they pay the right price because they are the customers and the club women are workers who have a job to do. It's a big rabbit hole, like in Burning Sun because women who work there may have big debts, be blackmailed or coerced to work there in other ways. Not saying some major shit happened in that instance but that's the nature of places men frequent, where they bring women over and they pick and choose what they want without the women's say.

    If BSH reached out personally to those women at least they can have the autonomy to negotiate what they want. If they are women from an establishment, with literal pimps being involved, there's a huge disparity.

    I think that depends on establishment to establishment. There are multiple clubs and bars that I've went to where women where elect to be placed in that position to be chosen (or make the move and go themselves).

    Mingyu is a single, young man. Given the nature of being an idol, he has to keep any encounters with women private. He can't date without it being turned into a huge deal. I'm sure the craziest of his fans would prefer he do something like this instead of committing to a long-term, serious relationship. Sometimes the men are there without much engagement with the women, just there to chill. It probably helps his case that he was seen mostly looking at his phone.


    As for your point about sex trafficking, it just depends from venue to venue. Many of the women are willingly putting themselves in this line of work. There may be a middle man who collects the money, but everything is consensual and agreed upon. The reason there's a middle man is that he provides the resources and opportunities; he's the one who rents the spot and pays for certain expenses. These places and services are open secrets throughout the world. There are ways to determine whether the worker is being forced or not.


    I'm sure lookism plays a role as well, but the other factors have more of an effect as to how people perceive the two incidents. It's just also understandable one would cringe more when seeing BSH like that.

    I just looked it up again and I definitely got it wrong. My bad. I definitely got that info from an unreliable source. You can find it if you look it up, but I won't link it here since I don't want to promote it.

    There seems to be a pecking order when it comes to controversies and the severity of the reactions:

    I do not think he is, I know Uhm Jung Hwa made jokes about regretting turning him down to go on We Got Married when he asked if she would do the show with him as he was invited. I can imagine if he was the topic would have come up as a joke from UJH about him going on to a "fake marriage show" when he is already married, as she is pretty transparent.
