Chanelle (r u next ) being part of fifty fifty re-vamped

  • I don't think her fans are taking it well. Girl had loads of international support when r u next was airing.

She really wanted to debut so i understand but not sure how much of a good idea it is.

She's already an older idol in a field where they debut younger and younger. She doesn't have the backing that Le Sserafim Sakura has either. If she wasn't going to debut in a Big 4 group, then FiftyFifty is literally her best shot. They have a massive number of Spotify listeners and YouTube followers. What nugu group was going to get her that kind of foothold?

The boycotters aren't thinking about her career as much as she is. I'm sure it's the best option she had.

  • Btw they've messed names

They've welcomed Keena again meanwhile there are five girls in video

  • Imo, we won't really know how much of a good decision it is until a few comebacks in, tbh. Cupid's success was kind of a lightning in a bottle situation and heavily dependent on the English version of the song as well. So much time has passed that it's hard to say if they'll even have much success moving forward (though I'm sure with Keena still there some of the fans will support). Plus, it's unlikely she had many options. For all we know, this may have been the best offer she got (and I'm sure her large popularity internationally helped with that tbh). If they really want to support her, they'll have to get over it as I doubt she will be able to debut ever if she leaves this group.

  • She is old. This was her best shot since the visuals are not up to par + her English is a huge asset since ''Cupid'' is more well known by the world than any BTS/BP song. I wish her the best, hopefully her attitude isn't sucky anymore.

I am for sure still going to support her but I almost wish she auditioned for some Japanese companies as they debut both young and older idols instead of leaning one direction. ;( Which would have been so much better for her in the long run, as they do not usually just discard idols after they age up.

Dude she is not even at mid life yet, she is 23, that is not old. If you are meaning Chanelle, she is only 21 bruh. I do not know why people keep taking this route of thought, but literally most people live to their mid 80s, she is not even half way through her life. Nor are any other idols her age, old. People need to get over the idea that someone has to be a teenager to be "young". Teenagers are literally children.

  • all the "fans" passive-aggressively expressing their disappointment in Chanelle must be teenagers who never felt what it's like to be on the job search, unsure of how they'll make a living. Being an idol isn't charity work or a hobby, its a job that many are desperate for and will take whichever best opportunity that comes their way, even if it isn't ideal.

For all we know, maybe she did audition for Japanese or Chinese companies. Or maybe she didn't for other reasons.

Exactly this. As an aspiring idol, every year she doesn't debut, it comes at a cost of other things she can do in her life:

Opportunity cost is the potential forgone profit from a missed opportunity—the result of choosing one alternative over another.

Especially in a field where many that debut, something she's not done, still end up failing out. She's already left the idol industry once. This is now her shot to be an idol, and it won't get better.

  • it's the best for her and for its group

Fifty Fifty need strong vocalist because Sio has strong distinct vocal when she was in it. And Chanelle maybe can replace her.

And Chanelle need 50/50 because she's mainly popular in international fans. 50/50 (or maybe the song aka Cupid) also more popular in ww than in SK.

It win win solution for everyone.

Yeah, I feel like many K-pop fans sadly accepted this idea that "old" in K-pop is anything above 19, but it doesn't have to be this way. All it takes is for one company, one group, or one idol to change perspectives.

If more companies debuted idols who are in their mid 20s, late 20s, early 30s, or even beyond, it would become normalized in the industry and among fans.
