Which debut was bigger: Itzy with Dalla Dalla or NewJeans with Attention

NJ definitely owns the charting records.

But when it comes to impact? NJ has engineered a cultural reset in Kpop that is still going on today, a whole new generation of songs, acts, MVs have been influenced by them.

But Dalla came at literal peak 3rd gen, when BP, Twice and BTS were still conquering the world. Nobody at the time gave a thought to 4th gen. But Dalla was like the first shot across the bow, a warning to ALL 3rd gen stans that the clock had started to tick and their days on top were numbered...

You're right about that. I scoffed at the notion the 3rd gen girl groups would be relinquishing their dominance over K-Pop any time soon. Confident that the 3rd gen would easily be the longest last generation K-Pop has ever seen (which is true to an extent). Then that abysmal 2019/2020 era happened, where K-Pop simply was just...not hitting the numbers we were used to seeing, outside of BTS, then the pandemic, and from the ashes of post-pandemic K-Pop rose the 4th generation.

Was Attention even that big? as a casual fan (So i am actually asking because i don't know) i was under the impression NewJeans hit big with Hype Boy and Attention was nothing amazing success wise and i have heard Dalla Dalla was super big

Yes. They debuted and scored a Real All Kill on the charts and Attention was the #1 song throughout their debut. Hype Boy gained more popularity over time, not only because it's pop perfection, but because every celebrity under the sun in Korea was doing dance challenges to it, and it also became its own meme.

Attention was a big enough song in 2022 (it debuted on 7/22/22 to be exact) to still be a top 10 song on Circle by year end 2023. So yes, objectively and statistically speaking, it was a huge hit, especially for a debut song with literally zero promotion or hype. We'll probably never see anything like it again

I searched Dalla Dalla achievements to see if it really was as big as I remember and damn it just showed me how kpop achievements get old real quick
