Disappointed with their creative team
Even Twice's Albums Are Lazy, Repetitive and Basic

Feels to me that kpop albums and the goodies in them are just getting progressively more boring
Labels have realised they can just throw in a photobook and a few different versions of photocards/postcards and people will buy
I made a post months ago about how low quality JYP albums felt and offered Dreamcatcher as a group that offers things that are more interesting and better quality. But even they have recently released low effort things.
Their last album, villians, even the special edition was a bland collection of photocards and pictures of various sizes:
This is in comparison to previous Dreamcatcher special editions that have offered nifty things like keyrings, craft kits and other things you can "use" if you want.
Also disliking when the special edition photobooks are just all the standard edition photobooks in one with nothing extra/exclusive

just curious, twice's photobook are based on MVs?
Cause i realise there are two kinds of photobook out there.
1)There are groups like Blackpink which do an entire new set of outfits & photoshoot just for album photobook and dont include any of the MV things inside there. For example, the album photobook contains none of the 3 MVs stuff. Those 3 MVs are only used for 4+1 photobook & Japan albums. Same with Born Pink, album photobook different set than PV SD MVs
2) there are groups like IVE that photobook are entirely based on the MVs. For example, the I've Mine is entirely based on the 3 Mvs - either way, OTR and baddie. Only Loved IVE (one version) is based on new photoshoot outside of the 3 MVs
3) some groups do a mixture of those, like aespa. Aespa used to do special photoshoot based on kwangya and real world for Girls which are not from MV. But lately for My World and Drama they are relying more on material from MVs

Most taken at MV shooting but sometimes there are concept photos added in

That's disappointing, I really liked the Dreamcatcher albums I have

I absolutely disagree
Aespa still do a mix of both
In my world : they had photobook with the mv set and then you had the version streetwear and the one where they all wearing white who were exclusive to the photobook album
Same for drama the giant aespa never appear in the mv, this concept is only based on the photobook

DaisyTheGenuine I know that this thread is slightly tongue in cheek, but I have to say in Korea and especially Japan the TWICE merch is damn near unparalleled. When I went to Seoul last year, I came away with brick "Lego" sets, minifigures, "gundam" models, paper models (that you build), portable chargers. It's super comprehensive.
Why do the other groups put all the bells and whistles on their albums? Because thats at this point the only time they can push extra merch out, while Twice and Blackpink can release "vanilla" album sets because people will buy the merch separately.
