What's the point of a remix, actually?

  • Do remixes make songs more successful? Do they really make a huge difference in compositional aspects, or do they help the songs chart better?

What's the real reason for remixes, especially in K-pop when almost all the time, people will only know and love the original version? What's the real point? I'm very sure that all these greedy music company wouldn't not make it just for fun as it wouldn't bring profits to them.

  • Remixes are meant to increase sales for charts.

However, very well done remixes are meant to introduce the song to a new group of listeners. That is why some remixes have some famous producers involved such as David Guetta, Khalid etc. And some remixes actually become successful and there have been remixes that actually became more popular than the original song such as the Savage remix.

Oh yeah. The Savage Love remix with BTS did well in SK and international charts.

  • the only way of me liking remix is when it's situation that for example had one main artist doing collab with other one

and then song became so viral that other artists joined for remix, by artists I mean singers

I don't want to hear some other sound in the background with basically same lines etc. that's just a variation of a song

I want hot bars dropped on that beat by some good rapper, or some interesting vocals added by talented vocalist

    1. Variation and Creativity: They offer a new perspective or interpretation of an existing piece of music. Remixers can add new elements, change the tempo, instrumentation, or overall vibe, showcasing their creativity.
    2. Appealing to Different Audiences: Remixes can attract different demographics or musical tastes. For instance, a dance remix of a pop song might appeal to club-goers or DJs, while an acoustic version might resonate more with a different audience.
    3. Extended Reach: Remixes can prolong the popularity of a song by keeping it fresh and relevant for longer periods. They can introduce a song to new audiences who might not have been interested in the original version.
    4. Marketing and Exposure: Remixes can be used as marketing tools, especially in the music industry, to promote the original song, the artist, or even a new album.
    5. Collaboration and Networking: They offer opportunities for collaboration between artists, DJs, and producers, fostering a sense of community within the music industry.

Overall, remixes serve as a means of artistic expression, a way to engage audiences in different ways, and a tool for artists to experiment and expand their reach within the music landscape.

  • Remixes are used for sales, charting and to be able to reach out to new audiences the original version of the song could not target. It's kind of branching out to a different music demographics.

It is no use saying this. Almost feels like you're talking to a titanium wall with K-pop stans. Because outside of BTS and BTS members, kpop groups have less than stellar digital sales (many lacking core fanbases in the US)

  • tbh I don't even listen to the og butterfly anymore, I much prefer the prologue remix.
