Inspired by EVERGLOW is a succesful group? - K-POP - allkpop forums thread, where I did mention the similarity between the two groups, and I think Secret Number deserves their own thread.
Basically, the thing with Secret Number is that they have an Indonesian member Dita who helped them instantly gain following in that country, but the Lisa effect didn't really happen, the rest of the world didn't buy into the hype and domestically they didn't have the YG behind them. So instead of BP they are more like Momoland, who as you remember became really popular in Philippines and nowhere else.
The severity of their Dita/Indonesia dependance can be scene on Instagram, where any pic with Dita in it would get at least twice as many likes than without her, sometimes even going over +100k.
Now the question about any group's success eventually boils down to whether they make money or not. And that's the thing, they seem to be getting gigs in Indonesia like attending pretty important events, festivals, like they are local celebs there but I am not sure what are the payments there, and then what are the exchange rates, like can their gigs in Indonesia keep them affloat in Korea? That's the question.
