dating to me is gross. I don't want to be that vulnerable and exposed, I only dated one guy, in grade 8, and he ignored me the whole 3 weeks we dated until I broke up with him, then we got back together. The only time he would talk to me was by text, but in real life he ignored me. I hated him and felt embarrassed and stupid by the end of it.

You still have lots of time. You're figuring yourself out. Those around your age are figuring themselves out. Don't worry about it too much. Develop the relationship that matters most -- the one you have with yourself.
Secondary to that should be family and friends. It's important for you to connect with your family. You don't want to regret or resent anything later on. Now is a great time to develop long-lasting friendships. Your friends should align with your goals in life and inspire you to be your best self. You shouldn't have to change yourself in any way for them. They'll accept you as you are and, likewise, you'll accept them as they are.
You don't need anyone else's validation. You're valid on your own as long as you're always striving to be a better person, a better friend, a better teammate, and a better family member. Things will come naturally.
