Most families have someone they would rather not mention in front of others.
Often the presence of the person hinders other family's future, such as marriage, getting jobs, or making friends.
I am not going to list the reasons since it might become a cause to sanction me, but often one person is responsible for 99% of a family's problems.
KPop is no different. One person is responsible for more than 50% of KPop's problems. It used to be about 90% but the rise of trot shifted some burden away from her.
The Strange Creature which has attacked KPop whenever she felt like, without remorse, regrets or guilt, once again demonstrated her power with this clip
The paucity of non-Korean comments near the top tells everything we have to know about this song.
Unfortunately there is no act to check her unbridled ambition this time. There is no clear cut leader of the 4th Gen to make her get lost, and she will abuse her Seniority and control of Melon to the fullest to harass the 4th Gen acts.
It seems she will make her move in Jan 2024, before anyone else, and wrest the control of KPop firmly from the 4th Gen and restore the bad old days of domestic, song-only, no foreign influence day of older KPop.
The Strange Creature made less impact outsid of Korea than Cho Yongpil, who showed up in the NHK Kohaku show 4 times, or even Na Hoonah, who briefly promoted in Japan in 1985 but his "Why do you cry, cry?" did become a local hit in Osaka. Out of all singers promoting for more 10 years, her aggregate contribution to KPop has been the tiniest. (Trot singers, after a while, do attempt a career in Japan since trot came from the Japanese enka. Mostly they tended to be unsuccessful but they gain enough fandom to do things in Japan here and there.) Even Lim Youngwoong did a concert in USA, although to mostly Korean-Americans (and some Korean-Canadians, Korean-Brazilians, etc who came to USA to see him), but not the Strange Creature.
Yet , because of the lack of someone who can stop her, the Strange Creature will launch a huge assault against KPop early 2024, which the 4th Gen is very ill equipped to counter.
Unless a miracle occurs, the Strange Creature will dominate Korean Pop again next year, negating every single changes it has wrought for the last 7 years.
