I really wonder what's happening in JYP right now

  • Seriously dudes, I sometimes wish I had a secret mass surveilance system in my basement, cause some things are unfathomable to me. Like are investors and management are actually losing their shit over their newer groups not doing as expected and talk shows openly mocking Nmixx? Are they brainstorming how to put the company on the right track again? Is this why JYP is suddenly overseeing Itzy production? Or is this all not happening and they are heading into the iceberg full on without realizing?

I mean after seeing movies like Big Short, nothing surprise me. The incompetence of upper management whom we always assume to be good at their jobs, when they are anything but. I honestly want a documentary about this entire thing.

  • this is good point

no one from investors too people in company will be "sad" or anxious

after all NMIXX sold more than 1M copies in first week

what investors and shareholders and even most important people within agency look at ain't Melon chart... but for sure they are looking how much money is coming into company, and NMIXX is bringing them that money

  • For a while JYP has been called old fashioned by k-netizens and the company's lack of innovation and tackiness has been palpable from the start. It was just easier to ignore because the TWICE members are so damn charming.

    🍒 Chee~eer~ish 🍒

  • what stupid is that youtube music is literally larger then melon, and NMIXX does fine on that, but noone talks about it

    it's not like that

Melon is still bigger it's just that Youtube offers MV's and songs themselves

here is an phrase from article:

Currently, premium packages are very popular with young Koreans, especially teenagers aged 10-20. After signing up, users can watch videos without interruptions by ads, and also get free use of YouTube's music platform.

basically it seems like younger generation is buying premium to watch MV's without ads and watch/listen to MV playlists without being interrupted by shit, and that 'music' part cames along with it.

Melon problem is with packages they offer, well they have plenty of them but maybe they were created years back so they are catered towards bit older customers who are in their late 20's/early 30's

  • It’s funny because that’s why JYP opened up these divisions for. NMIXX has their own sub-label SQU4D. And the CEO has been in charge of NMIXX. Love Me Like This was the start of their rebranding.

But I don’t think JYP cares. Their stocks are reaching all time high thanks to SKZ TWICE and NiziU. ITZY and NMIXX aren’t really on their radar.

It’s funny how NiziU has their priorities together but Div2 and SQU4D don’t know what to do with their own girl groups…

Also, The Masked Singer celebrities body shamed Jihyo openly and JYP did nothing and Myungsoo made fun of TWICE chart position in-front of Tzuyu and Dahyun on his radio but JYP did nothing. So yeah, JYP won’t take action.

  • As long as money keeps rolling in from album sales, concerts, merch, etc, no one probably cares. JYP himself mentioned album sales as the cornerstone of a profitable Kpop company.

Digital charting is great for helping individual idols get noticed, esp after their idol contracts end. But the company dont care about that. They just let the groups disband and then start up a whole new one that generates their own fanbase and album sales like Itzy after Twice and NMIXX after Itzy. Even better, the new group is bound by rookie contracts that deliver 95 percent of profits to the company while the rookie group is lucky to get 5 percent.

  • JYPE will probably make close to 100 billion won in net profit this year...

I don't think the investors are particularly worried about the current situation.

You see, JYPE sacrifices the future of your favorite group, so the investors can be happy. The artist always comes first.

Yall are missing the point. They'll make that money thanks to Twice and SKZ, their top groups. Their newer groups aren't doing that well, which from investor point of views should be terrible.

Nmixx sold more than 2 million this year, itzy with the next comeback will do close to 1,5 million. Just these two, you already have at least 20 to 30 billion won in revenue.

On top of that, itzy is touring, and next year they will tour bigger, and so does nmixx. How's that bad?

And different from twice, they get more money from both these groups.
