Its sorta strange to me that Minji, Haerin and Hyein all have a very strong grasp of english grammar, tonality and pronunciation for the most part. I mean they arent literally fluent, but even international groups like BP and XG and even other HYBE groups struggle with this. Le Sserafim is what made me think about it in the first place
Why is the English for NewJeans more fluent sounding?

I actually thought Minji had been born in the US due to her accent speaking English

Minji speaks English really well too (she stayed in Canada for a while).
Hyein’s bound to pick it up faster due to her age and being around the girls a lot. She even speaks in an Aussie accent now lol.
With Haerin, she sounds really good but there is a bit of a Korean accent (and it’s really charming)

I'm used to seeing sheer stupidity from BP haters but this has to take the cake

For BlackPink Jisoo’s english sometimes is more heavy on the accent and can’t fully differentiate between some sounds like TH/D “that” being pronounced “dat”, F/P/V and (which like no judgement i just wanna know if theres a training or something), and then in my opinion their writing itself is sometimes seems like they’re almost using grammar differences (but still speaking english words) to make the flow of the song go better.
Example (and like its even with a fluent English speaker) “typa girl that got bag in same quality as Chanel” like its almost correct so i know what she’s saying anyways, but its not CORRECT.
Like it doesnt take away from the quality of the song i just want to know like… why doesnt New Jeans have that?

BP uses a lot of slang and occasionally AAVE in their songs (like the Typa Girl line that was written by an American woman)
XG uses strong AAVE in their songs and literally nothing else
Except for a few notable lines like the one in AIIYL, neither of them use "incorrect" English exactly but dialects that run counter to proper English grammar at times
NewJeans doesn't really utilize ebonics and mainly standard English.

Wait i’m gonna look stupid as fuck but whatever because this forum could use humility but after i went back and listened to all of their songs with the context that they primarily make “hip-hop” music its more of a stylistic choice i guess (including dropping some grammatical necessities for the flow of the verse) but i guess since they’re korean/whatever XG is based that i never thought of it as like…. Slang/AAVE instead but now i have a separate issue with it

you can't be serious using Jisoo's English lol come on now . Besides, she learned Japanese (and Chinese ) in her trainee years. if anything her Japanese is pretty decent. What about Jennie and Lisa ? they are fluent ( to some extent) and their pronunciation are on point + Rosé's first language is English.

There's another discussion to be had about how prevalent aave is in kpop but I know better than to have it on this forum
