Its all depend on each person honestly or how mature you want to be. It could be situational too.

My buddy asked a friend out but got rejected. However, we still hangout with everyone together and its not awkward between them, because they aren't making it awkward. No one brings it up or tease them either. Just a normal hangout. They sometimes hangs out with each other. It's been a year and I think they're both over it.

It's just really depending on your experience and situation. Some can still be friends, some cannot.

If someone stalks you or creep you out afterward, might need to take precautious measure ):

It will be awkward for awhile. But you can eventually recover with some time passing. It would help if both of you found other partners, then i think the awkwardness would pass a lot sooner and you could even begin to joke about it.
