So it seems that both "The FLASH" and "Elemental" are flopping hard...

  • is wally west a goofy doofer that ezra miller plays in every movie?

i really liked him in perks of being a wallflower but ive been severely disappointed at how he plays that exact same person everywhere

In the cartoon, Wally is portrayed as being the youngest of them and being kind of goofy and silly (and wannabe ladies man) in comparison to the rest of the Justice League. He acted more like comic relief in most situations, and he was supposed to be the kid brother type since he was Barry Allen's sidekick and became the Flash only because Barry died.

I think DC took the goofy side of Wally and added that to Barry when that wasn't originally his character, and Ezra Miller doesn't do a good enough job of making that kind of character lovable in this context like Tom Holland did for Spiderman. I haven't watched much of Ezra's previous work, but if they are known for that kind of character, maybe that's why DC hired them. Though, it ended up doing them more harm than good.

this is his breakthrough role as far as i know

its based on a really really good book

    he nailed this specific character

it was supposed to be this flamboyant "cool" gay senior with hidden issues

  • That's sad about Elemental. I've seen a few trailers for it, it seemed like it would be good(I'd see it it just cause of the visuals anyways), but Pixar does seem to be following the exact same trope that we've been seeing for like.... ever.

And I'm not surprised that the Flash is flopping. People have not forgotten about how unhinged Ezra Miller was not too long ago. They don't want to spend their money on him, and unfortunately for him, he's no longer physically attracted enough for enough people to just bypass all he did

  • i honestly don't understand why they were pushing so hard for the movie to get a release, aren't they just going to reboot the whole thing? so why it matters if it gets a "proper" closure? the only reason i could imagine would be if the contract says it had to be released on theaters

i myself barely saw a couple of ads but i know that Elemental got plenty of marketing, is weird how studios can burn hundreds of millions in marketing yet if they don't feel you are a potential viewer you aren't going to see a single ad

"what if the elements were just like people and ugh... have like feelings and stuff "

It's simple. They poured multi millions of dollars into the film before miller went psycho. WB were doing reshoots soon after while no proper legal charges were applied to him (one rule for us, another for celebs) so by that time WB was pumping The Flash into a golden goose that had to be released to recoup some of that money that would go to waste if they didn't release. Their plan was to eliminate miller from press, remarket the film with a ton of Batman and hype the living shit with "it's the best hero movie ever, Tom Cruise fucking loves it yo".

Of course everything failed and the box office shows public don't care about Flash or DC as whole.

WB cancelled batgirl because it was shaping up to be another disaster but that was still in its early stages of production so no real big loss.

  • Ezra Miller's shenanigans are the least of the movie's problems imo. It suffered from a rocky production ever since its inception, mostly because of Zack Snyder's vision being at odds with WB executives. For the longest time, the studio just didn't know what to do with this freakin' movie. They decided to use it as a way to reboot their cinematic universe, but then it's an open admission the DCEU is a failure. Add to this mess James Gunn taking over and doing its own thing past Aquaman 2, and it really begs the question why should anyone care about this movie.

    Plus, it just looks hideous.
