Seems like ONCE and ARMY are no longer friends...

  • What’s the correlation between Chaeyoungs controversy and Kpop alliances ?

I wanna know your thought process behind this lol

Half of the ppl dragging Chaeyoung are ARMYs themselves. Stan twt used to act like they were very good friends, so it's hilarious to see them being at each others neck now. I personally think the controversy is getting blown out of proportion. An apology was already given but ig others weren't satisfied with it.

  • that's the reason why a fanwar is going on. Some ONCEs started using the "but Namjoon" and ARMYs (me included) obviously didn't like it. And if you don't want to hear about how different 2014 was from 2023, that's your issue.

There's no reason to bring up past incidents, but if it happens, Armys should just suck it up and accept what happened instead of trying to downplay it just because it's old news or dragging someone else for making the same mistake. Hypocrisy isn't a good look on anyone.

It's no issue, because there's absolutely no difference. This imagery has been offensive since the 1930s, well before Kpop even existed or these idols were born.

  • Saying BTS should serve as the example for not wearing Nazi paraphernalia is not the great look you seem to think it is, so let's just start with that and really soak it in. ^^

Okay, enough soaking. You apparently have no clue what deflection even is, as I'm not taking any attention away from Chaeyoung's (who is not "my girl" by any means) mistake and have in fact posted my own negative reaction to it through multiple posts, all of which can be easily found if you actually cared enough to do so. But you don't, because you're too busy in this thread defending BTS for doing the exact same thing you think requires deflection, and giving the exact "but it was so long ago" excuse I knew you would, even going as far as explicitly predicting your response in the very post you responded to. I mean really? If you're going to partake in typical fangirl behavior, at least try to be a little less predictable.

I am in no shape or form here to defend Chaeyoung, I'm here to call out the hypocrisy of the person who tweeted that, which inevitably led to more Army hypocrisy needing to be called out. You came rushing in like a wasp to the light, right on schedule. The moral of this story is do not be a blatant hyprocite who only pretends to care so you can drag people, and more importantly, DO NOT TRY TO DEFEND THIS SHIT. There are never any valid excuses.

I'm no entomologist but i'm not sure wasps are attracted to light. :whatb:

tbf, I didn't know how offensive the nazi symbol was either before the pandemic. In Asia, even if they teach you about the nazi symbol, they don't teach you about offensive it is to use those symbols in the modern times. It's a recent thing that people are educating themselves about it. It's similar to the n-word.

I understand that not everyone is taught the same things or to the same degrees worldwide, but I think it's just common sense that people are going to find the defining symbol of a particularly evil regime that (directly or indirectly) got 80 million people killed less than agreeable. Ethnic slurs can be tricky, as you're not going to be familiar with all of them, but that's why it's best to not repeat random words you hear without knowing the meaning of them.

Yep, it's all a matter of perspective. Think about some Chinese or Koreans or Vietnamese living in some random town, does anyone think they even spend one waking minute ruminating over a swastika? Does anyone think give one passing thought after seeing a pic of an idol online wearing a Sid Vicious shirt with a swastika on it? But i bet if you walked around draped in the Japanese flag or one of those 80s vintage Rising Sun shirts, you would be getting a MUCH different response.

That's why to persecute Chaeyoung by applying Western sensibilities is the height of Western neocolonial arrogance and entitlement.

I would just like to point out that she wore this shirt in the United States. A Western country that fought the Nazis. It's literally the inverse of walking around East Asia in a rising sun shirt. So how are we expected to not apply Western sensibilities? How is that arrogant or entitled?
