I think I'm growing out of kpop/jpop what do you think? / Advice?

  • So I partly feel ironic posting this, I know (if I can figure out how to at least to delete this post).

I am always giving people advice and for assuring them not to feel bad about leaving fandoms, or groups as its just a natural thing and they always thank me after but now I feel kind've ironic?.

I moved everything from jpop/kpop to my account I use on YouTube to post Vlive's, so I don't have kpop/ any of that content on my main youtube account as I have chosen to start fresh this year. (On YouTube you can delete your subscriptions and history without deleting your gmail, so that's what I did).

It's just this break from it seems a lot different then before, a while ago after I lost BAP + TRCNG, I took a break away from it to focus on my mental health and school. I had to complete 4 grades to graduate since my grades were severely impacted by it. This time it's different.

Many idols I follow on SoundCloud and in the past (IG & Twitter, I deleted it but took screenshots) have reacted and messaged back on my comments and I will forever be grateful. Including oceanfromtheblue (soloist), PlayMoon (Band), Demian, Ken from VIXX and Moon JongUp who always interact's with fans in YT comments) to name a few. (Even Kim Woojin answered my question in a youtube livestream, as a cub I have never been prouder of myself).

  • I feel like after my original content series posted in the article section of the website I don't know what to do. Maybe delete the forum section part I'm unsure. (If you write about unpopular idols and it isn't dating rumours, it doesn't get posted often 😅).

I love the interactions and all don't get me wrong but I just seem to be in a unsure mood, it could be cause I had a hard week with everything going on and that I'm super tired not to sure.

Sorry for any misspells or mis pronunciation in my articles as well btw.

  • You're not alone. I'm 54 and have been into K pop since 2011 and find that over the years the music has declined and not as fresh as it used to be. I am partial to second gen and the songs and groups of that era will always remain special to me. I get tired of people saying "you are never too old to listen to it" but I'm afraid that at mid fifties it is a bit odd considering the genre is mainly geared towards teens and millennials. I even feel way out of place on a site like this surrounded by users that could easily be my own offspring considering my own daughter is 20. If the music isn't grabbing you anymore then maybe it's time to move onto something else. I feel I have given K pop a good 12 years of my life but feel it is time to move onto to something more age appropriate. Incidentally, it was my daughter who got me into K pop in the first place when she was only 9 but even she says the music is just rubbish these days. Apart from Twice, the girl group scene is so lacklustre imo. They're the only group I bother listening out for.
