The Beatles organic success vs. BTS social media success

  • Which is more impressive?

I'm going with The Beatles because even though they have an advantage of being white guys they still were able to become the biggest group of all time without social media and without YouTube. Sure they had television in the 60s but it wasn't no where near reaching its hey day like it did in the 80s and 90s. Plus the music itself played a big role in their "intergalactic dominance" cause they even sent Beatles music into space for alien contact.

BTS on the other hand was at the right place at the right time cause of 2nd gen spreading kpop globally and YouTube and social media peaking right when they became famous. Without these three events I don't see BTS becoming much. Maybe 2pm level.

    What do you think?

  • BTS.

Because beatles have the white privilege. People here can argue all day

I don't care whether you like my view or not. Which opened doors for them.

Asian men throughout history has been seen as least desirable. The way BTS brokethrough. Sold 100 million album units in less than decade is impressive as hell. BTS suffer horrible trolling from my country men everyday. Calling them worse names.

To me BTS achievement is more impressive. Breakthrough xenophobia. The doors BTS opened for asians will forever be there. If impacting through social media was easy, every artist Would be doing it and don't forget beatles came during tv boom. When channela were few and people watched tv. Which gave them exposure as well.

  • Yes white privilege exists but that doesn't explain all the black artists that also became worldwide stars. Michael Jackson is still the most famous person on Earth. Unless you want to argue it's also the language barrier.

And mj broke racial barriers for black artist. So how u r denying my point? Mtv didn't play black artist including mj until label forced them. Then came thriller video which changed history. After that whitney Houston set global records for women. Black artists were called locals by racist people because they didn't get airplay, tv slots worldwide. Mj broke that barrier.

BTS dis a lot for Asian acts.

  • Uncle Drew I know you are old and this is totally your element but can you even name all the members of The Beatles without googling?

Lol yall are cracking me up. I swear I'm not looking this up.

    Umm.

    John

    Paul

    Ringo

Damnit I can't remember the last guys name lol. I'd know it if I heard it.

  • Beatles are bigger. Give BTS 30 more years for everyone to remember them

I kind of agree with this. 30 years from now long after the hype BTS will be seen as just another kpop group especially if another group surpasses them (and they probably will because 30 years is a long time).

Meanwhile today The Beatles are still known as the biggest and best. And it's not even close.
