How do you feel when you see BTS' peers touring while they're on hiatus and some are going to the military this year?

  • So, I just bought a Taylor Swift and The Weeknd tickets. I also plan on going to a Bad Bunny show if he tours again this year. My immediate thought is BTS while buying concert tickets. Their peers who's performing in stadiums are doing concerts left & right breaking several records and having fun on stage with their fans.

It's been 4 years since BTS had a world tour. They were supposed to do an all-stadium World Tour in 2020 but we all know how that went down. I actually had tickets to see them, so fck covid. Now, I saw them at the Yet To Come concert in Busan last year and the guys did so great performing and giving the audience what they want. But it's still not enough. I want BTS to do another World Tour and I know they want to as well. We're looking at 3-4 years before they can comeback altogether and announce a World Tour. I have no doubts it will be a success, but I cannot help but think what could have been if they didn't have to serve in the military.

Anyways, I'll see them whenever it is. I mean it's been 5 years since I last saw Taylor Swift in a concert, and even though I'm not a big fan I still bought a ticket this year to see her. So, let's say I'm not into BTS in the future as I am now, I'll still be seeing them whenever they are ready.

  • I feel devastated because every month, I would get news of their peers having concerts/fan meetings in my country. But I knew that something was gonna change when they opened their ig accounts and started the year with Jungkook and Jimin OSTs. :pepe-puddle:

Yeah. I enjoyed their solo activities, but it's not the same as their group activities. Atleast that's what I feel.

  • I’m sad that I have missed my chance to see them perform in London. That’s about it.

I am happy for other artists doing what they love and need and I have zero interests in any records other than observing them. Records are always broken anyway. They don’t diminish their strength and impact in my life, which is all that matters in the end.

It's not the records itself per/se. But it's part of BTS everytime they do something great. You know how everytime something great happens BTS and armys are together? Anyways, it's just a nostalgia.

  • Every time I feel sad that BTS didn't get to tour in 2020, I realize that BTS would not have released Dynamite and Be and would not have reached where they are today

Personally, I think they will still released those songs maybe not in 2020, but in the future. Joon mentioned in one of their interviews with BB that they released Dynamite to keep the buzz alive during the pandemic. If covid didn't happen and they went on touring, somewhere along their military service/hiatus era, I feel like they will still release those songs to keep the buzz alive. It will be like a gift to armys while they're gone along with several re-recorded content that we're now getting.

Here's the article: In lieu of its planned world tour in 2020, BTS pivoted to something more unexpected: singing completely in English. It put out three singles in the language (“Dynamite,” “Butter” and “Permission to Dance”), all of which reached No. 1, with “Dynamite” and “Butter” receiving mainstream airplay — the band’s first true crossover pop success, marking the first time songs by an all-Korean group hit the top 10 of Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 Airplay chart. But the members say they didn’t all agree that English was a good idea. Both BTS and HYBE executives decline to elaborate, and BigHit Music’s Shin says all discussions were amicable. “I think it’s a testament to the band’s strengths, the way they can come to a friendly resolution and be mindful of the company’s needs,” he says.

RM wasn’t fond of the idea, though he acknowledges it was a crucial way to keep buzz alive during the pandemic. “There was no alternative,” he says.

  • It doesn't worry me. We knew BTS would do their service sooner or later and personally I think it is a good thing as with other groups. It's just going to be a boring time while they're away imo.

Oh I get it. I was happy for them every time they broke some new record. For example, I cried like a baby when dynamite got the top spot on hot 100. I’m a soppy git!

But that said, I don’t feel regret for them currently because of that for tours etc. Who knows what the future will bring, and as I said, records are always constantly changing hands. I feel sad for them because they lost their main driver - doing what they love in front of people who love them in a difficult time. I hope that they felt the PtD concerts gave them some of that without the emotional toil of constant travel and touring.

  • To be honest, I am impressed how BP growth in the last few years a d consider they have not peaked yet (no English track release, minimal work, coachella headliner next year ) . BTS currently peaked but not sure how they can grow after military service. Their solos have been quite commercially disappointed.

2023 should be their breakthrough into mainstream status if YG drops eng single & album 😌

Well, BTS peaking (even though they are literally in hiatus lol) won't definitely make Blackpink as the Biggest group. So, no need to worry about BTS' status after their military service.

Not every English songs can be a hit. We certainly can see that with several Kpop groups including Blackpink when they released one. Ice cream underperformed despite being in English and a collab with a western artist. Funny thing is, BWL an actual Korean song and a collab with another western artists (same situation with IC) is an actual hit domestically and internationally.

Also, aren't their songs full of english track especially their last album? Even Billboard hailed it as an 'english album'. Just to compare BTS only have 3 songs in English language while Blackpink have so much more. So IDK what are you implying about that lol.

It's not BTS fault that their English releases are an actual hit to the GP while other groups attempted to do so and failed.

  • It's only 2 or 3 years. I know the K-music scene can move quickly but everywhere else, a break of 2-3 years (where multiple members are still very active) shouldn't have too much of an impact on BTS because the hardcore fanbase is so large and used to waiting a while for other artists to tour or release albums. Also casual fans will tag along out of curiosity.

That 2025 reunion tour is going to be Ticketmaster carnage and I can't imagine the many ways in which their personal growth as artists will impact their music as a group. That album is going to be amazing and the tour will be off the chain. In the meantime, the solo activities are keeping BTS' name in the news so the guys will have their chance again in 2025.
