if you were an idol that's been in the industry for a couple of years now, would you be offended if your juniors didn't bow and pay tribute? i'd probably be too tired from working too much and wouldn't even know where i'm at and be half-asleep

  • Imo obligatory respect is cheap.

If genuinely earn my juniors' respects then that's where the real value is.

if they were just forced to bow because of age or smsht I might even feel a little offended tbh. just like how often the difference between sarcasm and genuine statement is in tone, the difference in context of respect can give off different meanings to me.

  • depends

for example let's say that we are in same company and there are seniors 5-6 year on the market

but within company building whenever I bow they treat me like poop

    don't talk with me etc.

at one point I would just give up on treating them with respect

on the other hand I would still respect and bow down to senior groups from other companies when I would be passing through hallways of tv companies

now another point is when seniors in company would treat me lovely, help me, talk with me, or even just show me respect with bowing down as well, then I would for sure have even bigger respect to them

  • This is all about culture. As asian, we can't help but to care a lot about our attitude especially in front of our elders and we have tons of 'must do things' in our culture to not considered as rude. I know some of these idols don't care but obviously some actually see those juniors as rude because culture is not something that you can change easily especially when you and your society doing it all your life.

So to answer your question as someone who living in country with this similar culture with Korea, yes a lot of them actually noticed it. While not really care, most of them surely will actually thinking in the back of their minds that those juniors is quite rude.
