When she doesn't know

I can always bring myself to say what I mean. Even if it's not face to face, I send it in a really really really long text or a hand written letter.

If I do that, I feel like everything I've built will crumble.
Like a sandcastle.

Put your pride down before you regret never saying anything and missing out.

Don't do it, will make things awkward make sure she's interested first.
And really interested not just playing.
That's my main concern.

First try to know if the person is in the relationship or not. If this person already has a relationship, unfortunately, it's too late and you'll have to move on.
If this person is not in a relationship, do you need to define how close you are to this person? Are you colleagues? friends ? close or not?
And if you're free and close to each other, unfortunately, there are not many solutions, you will have to take the risk of confessing your feelings to this person. If I remember correctly, you are in your thirties, so avoid telling this person in writing, prefer an oral statement.

You're first point is good to remember, she's not in a relationship though. That would make her off limits for me.
And I'll have to think over the other two carefully.
But you're absolutely right, if I decide to do it, it'd definitely be in person. That amount of respect is deserved.

I fear losing what already exists.

It's a lot to think about.
-
just be honest and take a risk

Well, I told her.
It didn't ruin anything, but it didn't end up in anything either.
It does feel freeing, like a weight off my shoulders.

You made the same choice I would have - to tell. You had the courage and I applaud that.
