    If she had attacked BTS on the summer, releasing a couple of new singles before her concert, she would have been #1 but I think she refrained because she judged BTS would return with a vengeance in 2025.

    IU was more active than BTS in 2021 and still couldn't beat them. Actually lost by bigger margin than anyone else ever has. IU doing or not doing something wasn't gonna change the result of this poll. This poll has been here for 13 years and IU has won only 2 time while BTS have won it 5 consecutive years.....

    I mean this whole discussion is hardly worth having considering the op, especially considering the dumb narrative about strategic voting and men vs female etc, but..

    IUs fanbase is about 55-60% women and 40-45% men going by chart stats, and have been since around 2014. The time her fanbase was majority men is long gone. But winning the poll or not has nothing to do with the demographic of her fanbase. That the female landscape is more fickle is true in general, but IU is basically one of the few exceptions to that rule.


    She beats everyone including BTS in the 19+ demographic this year, a year she hasnt released a single song or done any tv appearances.In fact she hasnt promoted anything since 2021 april, where she did one week of promotion for her album and that was it.


    BTS have for sure deserved their #1 for the last years, but to say that IU cant ever place over them again is a bad take. Its entirely possible BTS will take #1 next year as well, but its also possible IU will do it, or there will be some new surprise that will explode at the right time that coinside with the gallup tracking perio during june-october.
