It is said that BTS still accounted for 70% of all of Hybe's revenues despite of it doing not too much.
Girl groups generally do not bring as much revenues and profits to various companies, because although their album sales are higher nowdays, their dedicated fandoms tend to be smaller and less loyal (not too many male fans remain loyal for a female act as they grow older).
It is said even if Hybe has 10 Lesserafims and Newjeanses, they won't be able to fill the gap created by BTS' semi-permanent absence.
BlackPink only did arena tours in USA and Europe, where more revenues were expected, and the only stadium tours And their tour is probably the biggest girl group tour in 10 years.
Spices girls at its height
(it did 2 stadium tours in its native England, but the Sheffield stadium has a cap of 25,000, similar to the Gochuck, and it did Wembley for 2 days, but Lee Jieun did Olympic Stadium for 2 days)
Destiny's Child at its height
Both had to settle for arena tours in USA and Europe.
The only female act from Korea which did a real stadium concert in North America, Europe or Northeast Asia is IU , a nonKpopper.
Of course SNSD, Kara, BlackPink and Twice did Tokyo Dome, which is bigger, but no stadiums.
Which in turn leads to the Japan obsession many girl group producers tend to fall into.
Since a girl group tends to make the most money from Japan, companies will choose it before going after any other direction. Which means most girl group activities, other than Gidle whose Chinese members will prevent it from getting big in Japan, will tend to concentrate in there.
In short, there is an inherent limit on how big a girl group can become compared to a boy group, and even BlackPink, the most successful girl group of probably all time, fell short of a domesticist back in Korea.
Will any of the new acts be able to break that barrier to be able to perform in a stadium in North America, Europe or Northeast Asia?
It is possible but to be able to reach there companies have to change their paradigms and that will be hard.
