IVE of Starship is the first Kakao act, ever, to win a Grand Prize in MAMA.
Now, Kakao's power politics will significantly change too.
MAMA is basically the only Grand Prize worth its salt, while MMA continues to shit on itself and Golden Disk not being what it was .
MAMA is watched by the most people around the world, whether you like or not, while MMA is watched by a bit less people and Golden Disk now an afterthought.
IVE's Grand Prize from MAMA is, basically, more than anything IU won in other places.
IVE won the only Grand Prize from MAMA, the rest being placeholders for BTS.
Basically MAMA , once again,showed who is the boss of KPop - IU was given the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and is ineligible for Grand Prizes for the rest of her life, because, by MAMA's own rules, she is officially retired
With IVE likely to bring significantly more revenue than IU around the world, the whole structure in Kakao is likely to change. Kakao finally has a real international act which the world can look for, not someone who will never be relevant outside of K-O-R-E-A.
IU has NOT made a clip with Woodz (Jo Seungyeon), Edam's newest singer . Showing her displeasure of packing Edam with people she does not care about. With IVE officially recognized as a Top Class Act by MAMA, the only relevant Grand Prize, IVE will demand better treatment and Kakao will treat MAMA-less Lee Jieun quite differently from yesterday.
In a couple years, we will probably see Jang Wonyoung and her friends marching into the Edam office, telling Lee Jieun to leave Kakao Entertainment building at once, and the Senior Singer will be seen packing, like this
