Anyone else's parents read all the weird ways young people die on internet then makes sure you don't somehow end up with the same fate?

  • like my mom does that. One time she read that this guy died bc he left pasta outside for 4 days and he finished it up after. The food poisoning killed him. She was grilling me all week about how I refrigerate my food, if I throw out expired food and all. I was like wtf is going on? Then she told me the story. Mom I know to refrigerate my left overs.

Another time she read about this girl that lost her eye sight bc she didn't take off her contacts and shampoo her hair. I think the shampoo and contact didn't go well together. She was texting me evey night to make sure I get my contacts out before shower.

Basically my mom thinks I have no life skills

  • My mom doesn't purposely seek them out but yes, every time she read something about how someone died, I will hear about it and then be quizzed about my habits and stuff to make sure I don't die like that.

  • every time i do something my dad has to bring up some real experience about someone dying because they weren't careful or something and i genuinely wonder if he thinks i have a brain of a three year old

  • all parents are like that...

they worry constantly about their kid

it's not something that one can understand until one has children of their own

like I constantly tell my mother to not worry and yet right now I'm thinking whether my son (at kindy) is ok because he had a fever on Saturday
