  • Reminds me a bit of Dowoon from DAY6. Jae asked him "What do we do here today?" and Dowoon went like "We film the sound of cicades krrr krrr krrr krrr and the water woosh woosh woosh" xD

  • I'm a native English speaker LOL. It was just one example out of many why it's just a confusing language anyways.

well i dont think its any harder or easier than other languages

they all have formulas and they all have a ton of exceptions

im learning japanese and people say its so hard but i dont find it any harder than other languages so far

the basic principles are about as complicated as you would expect anywhere else

there's just a lot to memorize ( for all languages ) and you need to put the work in at a constant rate

  • Those are some good points - I think it's more grammatical structure than actual words in the long run. Japanese was very easy for me to learn as well.

  • English has a very inconsistent pronunciation. If you pick Portuguese, Spanish, French, and probably any Romance language, the pronunciation is very straightforward (even if French has a lot of mute letters, it follows well defined rules). English, in contrast, have too many different pronunciations for the same syllable. It's mainly because it uses an alphabet that was not designed for it (they dropped the Anglo-Saxon runes in favor of the Latin alphabet).

  • I think english can be confusing sometimes but all in all it’s pretty easy compared to other languages

agree. english doesn't have grammatical gender and grammatical cases and every language without them is easy. my slavic language has both and it's hell. we also can't speak neutrally. no matter your gender identity you have to pick either masculine or feminine (nobody in their right mind would pic neuter, they are not objects), it just cannot work any other way, it's impossible

Anyway, English is easier than French (which is my native language and I don't know it so well, I mean grammar). I finished my cheap essay in English for my scholarship and I've just received a note from my teacher that my French is worse than my English lol.

I completely agree, French is far worse than English. I'm learning English, French and German now, my written English is better than spoken, but grammar is not so difficult, if you compare it with French.

  • English can be very confusing. Unlike Romance languages, most words are pronounced differently from how they are written. Also a lot of words are written the same or sound the same, but have completely different meanings. For example all of these words sound the same:

    ship - to mail something

    ship - water vessel

    sheep - an woolly mammal

    cheap - something inexpensive
