Because they were not singing live in festival.

They're being marketed in the wrong way.
The group has probably the strongest vocals of the 4th gen (collectively speaking, half of the group aka Ning Ning and Winter have phenomenal vocals and the other two sound better singing than they do rapping) but their songs don't showcase their vocals enough because SM is too busy trying to turn them into BP when the group collectively doesn't have that "chic"/"cool" vibe. Giselle sounds like she's trying too hard, Winter and Ning Ning's vocal runs sound great on the track but are rarely showcased live and Karina is the center but
It just doesn't work for them and isn't marketable in the way that SM thinks it is. It's a disservice to the members, too. What worked about Next Level is that it is catchy, has strong vocals, and the dance looked cool. For once, SM needs to take notes from Starship, HYBE, and even CUBE in terms of song quality.

why are you all acting like SM Ent groups never lost their position because of the shitty management system?
lately all sm groups are going through mess, group interns are not doing their job, socials are untouchable, fans don't know about groups' activities and cfs, their comebacks, concerts and other meetings are delayed, idols are tired and overworked. LSM wants to leave sm, and let me remind you that LSM is responsible for Next Level and Savage album. if LSM is about leave aespa, we'll have songs like Girls quality and that's their downfall.
aespa is not managed properly and that's it. if sm was smart enough and went with that blackpink agenda like y'all say here, karina and winter would be booked and busy since Next Level, they would be ambassadors and their faces would be everywhere. like IVE with Wonyoung, Yujin, then Rei and Leeseo. however what did sm? locked them in the basement. the hype faded away. aespa has no stable or strong fandom, because their fans have NO content. after Next Level the girls were inactive for 8 months and when coachella happened they should be back with a new album, but SM delayed their comeback for sm's hags and their lovely boys. then released corny ass song life's too short and awkward illusion. I don't have to mention the Girls album and how weak it was? their performances? oh my god they can't sing live because their performance director doesn't want it, their stylists and make-up artists don't do a good job, they don't get any fancy set for their stages or anything too. dance break? intro? sm wants to earn easy money with them by giving them nothing. instead they send them to some sort of interview in unknown US places that no one watches or listens to except their own fans.

LSM is still credited as producer for Girls tho
He may be the big brain for aespa concept and planning however his producer ability is already past it tbh.

Huh? Isn’t LSM also responsible for Girls? He is listed as the producer for the album. I agree with some of your points but at the same time too many excuses as well.

i mean just a few months ago he gave us savage golden album. I think their marketing team contributed here with their choice of life's too short and tittle track for US market, because girls ep was actually supposed to come out right after coachella. it was probably a hype comeback ride that wasn't supposed to be that big of a deal, but was delayed and as we know, lsm is not responsible for managing matters that happen in the company. the problem is chris lee and sm's team management. they thought it was a good idea to release this album after so long even tho it seemed rushed. the promotions only focused on the US too. lsm is the head of aespa and nct. I like their music and I am terrified that the quality may change completely now. the album wasn't as experimental and messy as their previous tittle track or single like nl and that's why fans were disappointed. they just lost their sound due to promotion for US.

For how big LSM western successful advancement dream is, he still clueless about the demand of International listeners. Savage isn't intended for US promo, however Girls is and this song isn't the right fit for the intended target market. This is not the first time, I also listened several SM songs which also intended for US promo and NONE is fit for it. so yeah He is part of the problem also. He also part of setting up the group itself for failure tbh.

yeah and everyone knows about it (thinking about red velvet and their bad boy like this song had a lot of potential to make it big with english version) it's like girl crush song or sad love song is enough and everyone would eat it up but for some reason this company can't get it lmao
