When k-pop started to get more popular obviously YG noticed this and had to debut a girl group as well, and blackpink did well of course right off the bat but YG wanted to push them into the western market really fast.
Once BTS hit their first peak around fake love era that was when Blackpink had their year long hiatus (not because of BTS) it was because YG needed to think of an easy way to make blackpink the biggest girl group and different from every other group, which is why D4 came out, yeah some fans called it bad but it was working like a charm and became their biggest hit (at the time).
So YG knew if they starved blinks of any content, actual good promotions for a 5 year old group, any music, etc that blinks and the gp would start to get curious and start fighting eachother and hating on blackpink because thats what fans do best, a lot of fans in 2019 didn't like blackpink because they thought they got their sucess easily and they were lazy and this blew up when jennie got into her famous lazy scandal and what did YG do? nothing.
Because bad press is still good press, so everyone hated jennie at this point, they were making 10 minute long "why i unstanned blackpink" videos and blackpink were getting more and more fame from this YG thought "hm how can I make people hate her more" then they gave jennie a solo that made solo stans lose their mind because this obviously to them this showed that YG was mistreating the other 3 girls and then that passed.
YG continued the less is more tactic for KTL then left blinks in the dust for a hot minute which also caused for fan wars and more and more toxic solo stans to cry that their fave was somehow getting mistreated, and then they gave blackpink the full album which isn't actually a full album if you look at how long it is, pretty much every track has more english than korean and the title is a 2013 throwback western love song (thanks producers) and now they are using the less is more quality over quantity bull for rose solo. The end, until YG gives them another comeback in 2025.
