Yup.. I think it was the WINGs tour that was the first tour by a korean act to bring in profits.

Tldr but yeah I agree, the only place they actually promoted in Order to be popular and not the other way around was Japan and some other asian countries, their growth in the west was totally unexpected

Bitter Kpoppies will only believe what they want to believe. Let's face it. Most Kpoppies have an indirect hate for BTS because they hate ARMY. It's hard to maintain their own narrative when ARMY constantly shut them down with facts. At the end of the day, they know what's real yet will never concede BUT the reality just frustrates them to their core.

What's their coping mechanism? Downplay BTS achievements to lift up their faves until another ARMY shut it down again and again.

because they want to find reasons to downplay BTS's success and just want to not face the reality : they didn't promote in the US until they were asked meaning they became popular in the US bcs of ARMYs and THEIR OWN GLOBAL POPULARITY

K-pop popularity grew WW with social media and all the content all the groups released there to foster the para social relationships. For almost all groups it’s not about promoting in late night shows and US deals. Idk why kpop companies keep going for that angle.

Now that Bts is on hiatus some kpop fans are getting brave and trying to rewrite history

Do people really say this? There's no way. Not when I, as well as other ARMY, were labelled as "beggars" because we promoted BTS better than BigHit ever could from 2015-2016. It's almost comical seeing this take in the big year of 2022. I will never forget my local radio stations eating my cupcakes with no spin for BTS in 2016.
