Regarding any of the sexual harassment/bullying issues, just remember

  • That people get wrongly accused of such stuff, even been to jailed for it. Imaging having 5 years of your life in jail for nothing and your future completely ruined, while the accusers get away with no repercussions.

I'm not saying that the accusers are spreading lies because they could be true, but unless those are proven to be facts, nothing is confirmed. In fact, many of those rumors were proven false and the accusers all got away with it, or admitted they lied and literally get no repercussions for trying to destroy an innocent person's life.

A wrong accusation can go a long way in destroying a person's life. The best we can do is remain neutral and wait for the facts to be released after investigations

  • In the court of public opinion people lack any ability to be reasonable and fall to the biggest trapping of 'not wanting to blame a victim' before even establishing if said victim is real.

  • Such cases destroy the life of an innocent person, make it harder for actual victims to come out and all for what? Some fun? Its disgusting. I hope all of that will be dealt with very thoroughly so that no innocent people are being pblmaed and no actual perpetrators get away with anything

  • false accusers need to be punished and they need to compensate to the person they made the claims against and that needs to be on their record.

  • false accusers need to be punished and they need to compensate to the person they made the claims against and that needs to be on their record.

    That's the problem though.

Like I'm all for false accusers to be punished but I suppose a lot of times even actual perpetrators get away with it. If that's the case then those victims will technically get punished under the law.

This is an issue because this would deter actual victims from speaking up because if they don't win, they will suffer even more than they did.

I'm like on the fence tbh not sure how I would solve this issue I don't think we can really solve it

  • I agree.

Obviously, we all feel differently, and if some people want to unstan someone as soon as accusations are made, this is their choices. But it's important to hear out both parties at least. And if things need to go to court, it's important to let things go at their own paces.

In France, a few years ago, there was a gigantic trial for seventeen people, all acused by children to have sexually abused them. Everyone was obviously on the children's side, horrified by everything happening. Turned out that these seventeen people were innocent, and the children's abusers were their own parents. These childrens were victims, but have been manipulated and lied to in order to protect their parents.

Some of these seventeen people lost their jobs, their families, and were seen as 'child rapists' for years.

It's rare but it happens. Listening to the victim is always necessary, but waiting for an investigation and for the accused's side is not an insult to these victims.

  • There was a one case years ago in some country I don't remember,

The man was falsely accused of raping a minor, and he was dragged by public. After he was proven innocent, He realized he lost everything, he lost his wife, 2 kids, tons of money, he was thrown out of his community, lost his job. He still lived his life until the 2nd case striked and boy, he was again falsely accused but this came to light after he was hanged, the so called victim did it for a joke. A FCKING JOKE

If I was present in that country, I would hang the false accuser myself. The man was among the nicest person, by his neighbor, his friends, his co-workers, a true family man. It was sad hearing this.

Lifes get destroyed in false accusations. That's why I stay neutral for the most part.

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.

  • This is why it's so hard to judge a crime with only 2 witnesses, the 'victim' and the 'perpetrator', and no concrete proofs.

There was a 11 years old girl who said she was a victim of gang rape. But the exams showed she had no sexual relation. There was also an adult woman who falsely accused their co-workers of gang rape. But after 4 years she was arrested for raping a 17-year-old. There was a young woman who lied on the social media that she had been gang raped just to gain followers. There was a woman who falsely accused her husband of rape so that she get a better deal in their divorce.

These people just make it harder to believe true victims. False accusations should yes be punished. Nobody truly cares about what happens to the ones falsely accused. Even the ones who are acquitted have a hard life afterwards.

But it is very hard to find a balance to not deter true accusations, I have no true solution for this problem.

    L'Affaire Outreau, je me souviens.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outreau_trial

Seventeen people were accused. Mostly parents, they were charged with child sexual abuse and incest and their children were separated from them for much of this time. The affair began when some school teachers and social workers noticed “strange sexual behavior” from four children in a local school. Psychologists believed the children to be credible witnesses, but doctors found no evidence of sexual abuse. The parents were accused on the testimony of some of the children, which was then backed up by the confessions of some of the accused.

The trial and the appeal trial revealed that the main witness for the prosecution, convicted for the abuse, had lied about the involvement of other suspects, who were in fact innocent. Several innocent suspects had nevertheless spent years jailed on remand and one died while in prison.

The trials resulted in a national outrage in France, with journalists, politicians and the public opinion questioning how such a miscarriage of justice could happen, with innocent men and women being held for years in jail on unfounded suspicions. In January 2006, a parliamentary inquiry was created, with President Jacques Chirac calling the affair a "judicial disaster".
