Why are 4th gen groups flopping in Spotify now?

  • Why are a lot of 4th gen groups regressing in terms of spotify streams? Their songs are falling off fast or not debuting on the chart at all. Txt, Ateez, Enhypen, Aespa and now the 4th gen queens of Spotify Itzy.

This looks even worse considering songs that are extremely hated like O.O and wa da da made it into the charts yet songs by some top groups couldn't make it at all. What is happening?

  • this is why fandoms are more important than casual listeners, they stick with you, not move on to the next trendy things

  • hope lesserafim and ive continue to make good and listenable songs unlike those other groups.. the music quality will speak for itself and do the work of attracting listeners instead of having to rely on gimmicks to sell the music, because when the veneer wears thin this is what happens :teeheek:

  • the answer is obvious - their music.

look at enhypen. their most popular tracks are fever, polaroid love, drunk dazed and their latest title track is a generic bg song. future perfect (pass the mic) sounds nothing like enhypen, i don't like it nor the album and i'm not going to hate stream it. i'm not going to reward bad music.

release better music and you'll have nothing to worry about.

  • Boy groups have been irrelevant there is no saving them, but the girl groups aren't regressing. It's just the SM and JYP have yet to get the memo that NOISE MUSIC IS OUT. it's 2022. Kpop fans have more or less come to their senses. They need to get off that sinking ship.

Itzy comeback almost got me scared JYP is going to continue giving nmixx those trash songs, which if he does, at that point I can only assume it's out of nothing but his own hubris.

Right. Noise music isn’t the trend anymore. People want music to easily listen too that why songs fearless love dive and recently pop have been doing well

I think this might be part of it. The past few years these top groups could release something they cooked up in a scrap yard and kpop fans would still eat it up like the best gourmet stuff. It would do well regardless of what it was because there weren't any other options from big companies.

I think new groups with more cohesive songs have debuted recently that have showed people that 4th gen music doesn't have to be loud and noisy with distant thoughts of a melody somewhere in there. Theres a lot more competition now and the competition is making music people actually like and don't have to force themselves to like after 50 listens.

  • Aespa did fine in spotify. Certainly better than anyone in that list. They should be in the above list because they charted fine in spotify but have steadily been flopping overtime.
