lmao, kpop history lesson 101 incoming
2ne1 was never a good group, their sales were shit, their touring wasn't bigger than 2ne1 and they bennefitted of coming back on empty months, the only reason they had 1 more number1 song than snsd. They were known as the ugly girls and nothing else, and they were done thanks to Bom drug scandal that ended up delaying BP debut, after that CL having egocentrism problems and Minzy feeling nugu killed their group completely.
BP wasn't their replacement, it was YG attempt to create a good girl group with actual success like snsd and uniqueness like 2ne1, and today they are yg number 1 money earner, so yg isn't going to risk going bankrupt with another gg considering no other of their acts are doing numbers, most of them flopping or making the company waste more money overshipping their albums like Treasure
After SNSD, 2NE1 was the biggest gg of 2nd gen. Sorry it doesn’t fit into whatever narrative you’ve created but that’s facts. They were never physical sellers but they dominated in digital sales during their time. Back then, a group was typically focused on either digital or physical sales. It was rare for a group to be good at both and even rarer for a girl group to exceed at both.
BP was 100% their replacement and their “future 2NE1” video proves it. Not to mention YG’s quest to create a “prettier 2NE1.” BP is definitely more popular than 2NE1 but to say that there’s no similarities at all is an overstatement.
And of course they won’t be disbanded while they are at the height of their popularity. But to pretend like they’re just going to exist forever and that YG will never debut another girl group is foolishness.
Delusion is believing that Blackpink is replaceable
Delusion is fans not recognizing that all K-pop groups have an expiration date. I know half of y’all are new to kpop but unless all four of them consistently resign their contracts for the rest of their lives, they will eventually be replaced.
That doesn’t take away from their legacy or the amazing things they have achieved but K-pop’s structure is set up in a way that forces many older groups out and churns out new groups. I hope I’m wrong but I’m not holding my breath.
YG is doing BP just as bad, if not worse, so sadly there’s nothing to project. Just look at the threads from Blinks. Half of them are complaints about YGE’s “mistreatment” of BP. If anything, I’m saying that I don’t put anything past YGE, including erroneously trying to replace BP. I wish it weren’t true but I don’t think YG knows how to have more than one girl group at a time.
