Invitation and Personal meeting with a sitting US President and scoring the most goals in the UK Premier League, still not enough to beat a local kingpin

  • Let me start by citing a legend

Long, long ago, there was a small town, whose hereditary chief had an iron hand over all of the people ruled

In time, there was a great conqueror who arose from there. He became the Emperor of the entire known world.

Also, there was someone who became the High Priest of the entire known world.

    They returned their native villages.

Everywhere else they were revered with the utmost pomp.

But the town's chief was not impressed. She demanded they pay respects to her.

They brought a huge entourage, who were amazed.

She was NOT impressed by them. She said, "You guys might be the Emperor and High Priest outside of this town, but in this town, no one is higher than me. As long as you are in this town, I am above you."

Son Heungmin was the best scorer in the UK Premier League, with Mohamed Salah.

Meanwhile, BTS went to the white house with the US President's invitation, and had a personal meeting .

Both are honors which are very hard to obtain by ordinary people.

    Yet,

the people of K-O-R-E-A voted IU, whose only recent achievement was being pushed over by a French beauty youtube personality, above them!

Which shows that no matter what act does whatever outside of the land of K-O-R-E-A,

the people of Korea will be more impressed by someone who is not really relevant too much outside of it.

  • Good for Koreans, they aren't suckers for external validation and like what they like.

Otherwise they would be colonized mental slaves.

  • Good for Koreans, they aren't suckers for external validation and like what they like.

Otherwise they would be colonized mental slaves.

Their mental independence is legendary ... in the old days they were crazy for external validations, but their attitudes did change over time.

  • You do realise this list was probably made before their visit to the WH in all likelihood.

  • Why is this obsession from non ARMYs for BTS to be at the top for EVERYTHING?? Like calm down dudes, stop with this extreme idolisation, it’s not healthy.

Nah.. WhyKnock has a different agenda..

I do get his overall perspective from an i-fan POV, "the most successful K-pop act internationally, is not overwhelmingly dominant in their own home country", might cause some dissonance.

But that's not really unique, often the cultural product successful with outsiders, is not the most successful with the locals and is one among a few.

It can be seen with food, tourist locations etc.

For example, Niagara falls in the US, easily 90% of visitors would be non-White Asians/Indians etc.

So don't lump him with other cases, it is definitely an interesting dynamic to explore.

  • Omg!! Can you stop? You're getting annoying with your obsession.

All right IU is awesome and great and she is number 1 in Korea.

    Everyone knows that.

He's been doing his weird IU thing for over a decade across multiple forums against every major group imaginable.

    He's not going to stop.

And I wouldn't say he's doing this to tell you how awesome IU is. He has a really unsettling very xenophobic hate/love of her.

  • Now we are using Niagara Falls as an analogy for BTS? I love kpop stans!!!

  • Why is this obsession from non ARMYs for BTS to be at the top for EVERYTHING?? Like calm down dudes, stop with this extreme idolisation, it’s not healthy.

If it were some different KPop group , or even a trottist, I would have said nothing.

But it is the same culprit all the time.

The singer who thwarted SNSD, EXO and the 3rd gen girl groups.

The singer who has made the destruction of KPop as her lifetime goal.

The singer who is famed for her isolationist philosophy.

All of internationally known people being unable to dislodge her is something which has concerned me since 2012.

  • and it is very frustrating when about 99% of the dissonance is responsible to one single person, who has done it over, over, over again since 2010.

  • Now we are using Niagara Falls as an analogy for BTS? I love kpop stans!!!

Not really, BTS is far more popular with Koreans, than Niagara is with non-recent migrant Americans.

But it is the same pattern when it comes to outsider perspective.

So not an exact analogy, but roughly on local vs. outsider views.

  • To those who allege BTS obsession, the OP has also used Son Heung Min to make the point.

But ARMYs are obsessed with BTS (naturally since they are ARMY) and have noticed only BTS.

At least by now, WhyKnock 's subject of obsession should be well known in AKP.

BTS, BP whoever - are all grist to his IU mill.
