Should labels 'ditch' random photocards to 'member' album versions?

  • What do you guys think?

Let's say there is group like STAYC which has 6 members

that would be 6 versions of album, each member got own version, and inside of it would be 1/2 photocards of that member

    example:

You've ordered STAYC album Sieun version, you received it and inside you had 2 photocards of Sieun

  • that would be very toxic, making members compete against each other

What companies should do is to systemize "platform" versions of albums ie. versions with minimal packaging and no physical content but a photocard. It's what CLASSy did for their debut album. Isn't it also what NMIXX did with their $6 versions? I'm not sure.

Anyway, this way it's cheaper for fans to collect photocards and it doesn't generate a massive amount of unwanted physical copies that end up in a dumpster.

  • Well yeah I've asked bout this because of things like fans dumping two boxes of NCT albums on the streets of Seoul, or Chinese fans do that bulk buying and also risking same scenario, like some did with that milk/yogurt sponsored boxes for Youth with You survival
