Blackpink was appointed as COP26 ambassador about a year ago and is working hard to respond to climate change. This video was filmed at 'Platinum Jubilee (the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession)' held by the British Embassy in Korea on May 26th, and Blackpink attended the event and gave a special congratulatory speech.

British Ambassador to Korea Colin Crooks expressed his gratitude, saying, "Blackpink has a sense of mission as a COP26 ambassador, awakening global fans to the awareness of climate change and emphasizing the need to act now."

Blackpink has established itself as a global top girl group by releasing numerous hit songs. Their YouTube channel subscribers are now 74.5 million, making them the number one artist in the world. The total number of individual members and Blackpink official Instagram followers is more than 312 million, which has a powerful ripple effect. Through this, not only COP26, but also various social contribution activities such as UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) ambassadors and participation in various public interest campaigns.

In addition to the activities of their artists, YG Entertainment has also been very interested in environmental issues for sustainable K-pop and has made various changes. We have worked in-depth with many partners, and since last year, we have been using environmental protection materials in the production of albums and MDs of our artists.

For example, when making albums, FSC-certified paper, low-carbon eco-friendly paper, soybean oil ink, environmental protection coating, and biodegradable material PBAT are used. In particular, eco-friendly resin made from raw materials extracted from corn starch was applied to vinyl packaging, which was difficult to find alternatives to. YG was the first in the domestic entertainment industry to make such efforts and major changes throughout the production.
