Why are Produce groups temporary and so short lasting?

  • Is it because it's only really used to promote the individual members so once they come back to their actual companies they get some attention?

Do you think it would be worth it if Mnet made agreements with these trainee's companies to share the benefits of the Produce group and make them last longer?

  • because it was extremely experimental and unsure of if it would be successful or not. Every season contracts got longer and longer x1 was suppose not a temp group if not for the scandal they would have been around just as any other group.

short answer: because thats what company wanted

  • Mnet and such companies are looking for quick profits and not actually managing a group. Idol companies are mostly using the competition to promote their trainees and increase their chance of a successful debut.

  • different companies, lack of compromise, rushed debuts me thinks.

And once they are successfull like Wanna One can't Mnet negotiate a new contract? Maybe it's the members' companies that just don't see it worth it and want the hype of their trainees to affect them as quick as possible

It's pretty crazy because the touring which would come after some time is the thing that would bring them the most profit, but I guess it's a win-win situation. It's just so weird that with such demand their groups are so short-lived.

Not their forte, I guess. Concerts take a lot of work and effort.

  • Because it’s all about quick cash.

Produce gets a huge chuck of interest from the tv show so Mnet milks that as much as possible including drumming up fake controversies through editing. Once a group debuts they are going to put their time and money into keeping a group active for 5 or 10 years so they offer short contracts. In the mean time the next season of produce is already in the works and the cycle repeats.

It’s like how X factor/idol shows are all about the show and after the winner debuts in most cases they’re forgetter about a year later.

Goes both ways during negotiation mnet would rather create a new group than settle with less profit and companies would rather create their own group with their members than continue taking a smaller share.
