I. Introduction
IVE is a six-member girl under Starship Entertainment, which debuted on December 1, 2021 with their single album ELEVEN. Their current lineup consists of Gaeul, Yujin, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo.
II. Career
2018 - 2021: Pre-debut Activities
Back in 2018, both Yujin and Wonyoung participated in Mnet's survival show Produce 48 in which they made it to the final 12. Allowing them to debut in project girl group IZ*ONE. IZ*ONE debuted on October 29, 2018 then disbanded on April 29, 2021.
2021 : Introduction and debut with ELEVEN
On August 22, 2021, an article from Star News revealed that Starship Entertainment would allegedly debut a new girl group in the second half of 2021. It was also revealed that former IZ*ONE members, Yujin and Wonyoung would be a part of it. Starship did confirm the plans for a new girl group, but did not clarify whether Yujin or Wonyoung would be a part of it.
The groups official social media accounts were launched on November 1 and they revealed the group's name as "IVE" alongside a motion logo video. A Naver article later was posted on the same day that revealed that the group would have six members, which would include Yujin and Wonyoung.
The first revealed member was Yujin on November 2, followed by Gaeul on November 3, Wonyoung on November 4, Liz on November 5, Rei on November 6, and finally, Leeseo on November 7.
On November 8, it was announced the group will officially debut on December 1. Which they did with their single album ELEVEN. The group made their broadcast debut on KBS's Music Bank on December 3, performing ELEVEN.
On December 8, exactly one week after their debut, IVE earned their first music show win on MBC's Show Champion, making them the fastest girl group to win first place since debut. Later on, they gather 13 wins, including triple crown on Music bank, Music Core, and SBS's Inkigayo. In addition, Eleven recorded the most album sales in its first week of release for girl group debut albums.
2022 : LOVE DIVE, After Like, Japanese debut and Award Shows
On March 8, their ELEVEN MV reach 100 million views, becoming their first MV to do so.
On April 5, IVE released their second single album, LOVE DIVE, with the same name for the title track and 1 bside.
On April 14 & 15, they went to perform at Kpop Flex in Frankfurt, Germany. They went viral on twitter because the whole stadium are chanting along with them. One Week after release, the song went viral and reached 200M views for its TikTok challenge. The single also drew 28.9 Million streams and sold 2,800 outside the US in its first tracking week. On the Billboard chart dated April 23, LOVE DIVE ascended to number 10 on the Global Excl. US chart, becoming the group's first song to reach the top 10.
On June 6, Yujin released a single titled "Move Like This" with Kang Daniel and Kim Yuna as a 2022 Gatorade x Starship Campaign.
On June 8, the album was certified Double Platinum by the Korean Music Contents Association (KMCA) for selling 500,000 copies on Gaon Chart. The MV surpassed 100 million views on June 15.
On June 11, it was revealed through Gaon Chart that IVE had accumulated over 1 million physical albums sold just 6 month after their debut, making them a member of "Million-Seller Club".
During this era, LOVE DIVE successfully brought them 10 wins on Korean music shows.
On June 24, the first episode of Earth Arcade was aired. This is a variety show where Yujin became one of the main cast and this show went viral in South Korea.
Wonyoung and Leeseo, who were in collaboration with 2 Oh My Girl and 2 Cravity members, also released a single titled "Blue & Black" as a Pepsi x Starship promotion project which was released on June 28.
On July 18, Starship Entertainment announced that IVE would make a comeback in August with their third single album, After Like. It was released on August 22, and just like their previous singles, the title track bear the same name accompanied with 1 bside.
On September 1, Circle Chart (formerly Gaon) reported that IVE had surpassed 2 million cumulative album sales on the chart, just 9 months after their debut, making them the fastest K-pop group in history to do so.
During this era, After Like successfully brought them 14 wins on Korean music shows. They also bags 74 PAKs (Perfect All-Kill) which the first PAK were gained on September 13, making it the rookie girl group's first song ever to do so.
On September 8, it was announced that IVE would release their Japanese version of ELEVEN on October 19, marking their first debut on Japan.
On September 19, they were appointed to be the ambassadors for the "Everyone's Campaign" of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross Institute.
On November 26, IVE won Song of the Year with LOVE DIVE at the Melon Music Awards, which makes this group's first Daesang and took them 360 days to do so.
On December 19, they announced their very first Fan Concert "The Prom Queens" which will be held on February 2023.
Up until this point, IVE's collected 10 Rookie of the Year awards, 5 Song of the Year awards and several other awards along with 37 music show trophies.
2023 - present: Japanese releases, First Fan Concert, I HAVE IVE
On January 3, the group announced the design of their official light stick (as a preparation for their fancon).
On January 7, they got both Daesang and Bonsang for LOVE DIVE at The 37th Golden Disc Awards
On January 16, they release their second Japanese single, LOVE DIVE, along with a new bside in Japanese, Queen of Heart.
On February 11 & 12, They made their very first fan concert, The Prom Queens. This FanCon was held on Olympic Hall, Seoul, South Korea. The tickets was quickly sold out. They also extends their FanCon to Japan, starting from February 18 until 24, in Yokohama and Kobe. The total attendance was 72,000 seats. They also planned to continue this as an Asian tour in June - July, on several cities: Manila, Philipines; Taipei, Taiwan; Singapore; Bangkok, Thailand.
On February 18, they received another Song of the Year awards for LOVE DIVE and ELEVEN from Circle Chart Music Awards.
On March 16, it was announced that IVE would be releasing their first studio (full-length) album, I HAVE IVE (or I'VE IVE) on April 10. The group also pre-released a single from the album, titled "Kitsch", on March 27.
On March 24, it was announced that the group had signed with Columbia Records, a label under Sony Music, for promotion in United States as a part of Kakao Entertainment (Starship's parent company).
On April 1, it was announced that IVE would be releasing their first Japanese extended play, titled Wave, with the same name for the title track, on May 31.
They also planned to perform on April 8 at the Music Bank festival in Paris, France.

VII. Trivia
- Rei is the first Japanese idol to debut under Starship Entertainment
- Rei never cut her hair until debut announcement
- Wonyoung is the nth host of Music Bank with ENHYPEN's Sunghoon
- She is also fluent in English

- In ELEVEN, the member were shooting an arrow as a choreo, which in LOVE DIVE, there are a detail in the MV which the arrow's is flying, and in After Like, they had a choreo where they got shot
- In LOVE DIVE, there is Gaeul's line where she said "3 seconds is enough (to fall in love)", and in their next songs (After Like), the instrumental intro is only 3 seconds
- Their albums also themed around colors
- All of their singles album (except the Japanese singles) are themed around RGB colors, Eleven is red, Love Dive is Blue, and After Like is Green.
- RGB is known as Additive Color, which could be read as Add it Ive Color.
- This color theory then were expressed more in After Like, where each member had RGB and CMY as their individual color
- Eleven original title was "Prism", which known as an object that can divide a white color into several colors (rainbows).
- this is also explains the Prism-like formation of their choreo in Eleven's intro, and the prism-like background in the MV
- Rainbow lightings also used at the bridge part of After Like's MV
- Because there is 3 members who born in the same year (Rei, Wonyoung and Liz were born in 2004), it's easy to decides the group's average age, by simply taking the '04 line's age.
